Slavery is a profound violation of human dignity, reducing individuals to property and erasing their humanity. It perpetuates unimaginable suffering, tearing families apart, inflicting violence, and fostering systemic inequality. This cruel institution thrived on exploitation and dehumanization, rooted in greed and prejudice. The sin of slavery endures in its lingering effects, perpetuating cycles of poverty, discrimination, and injustice. It denied countless people their freedom, culture, and identity while warping societies to accept oppression as a norm. This stain on humanity’s history must compel us to fight tirelessly for justice, equality, and the sanctity of every human life.

I deeply appreciate this bold step of repentance for the Church's complicity in slavery, which means failing Christ's call for justice. I join the church seeking forgiveness, acknowledging harm caused, and committing to redemptive action and reconciliation. Dear God, help your church to achieve this goal of reconciliation and heal every wounded soul. Amen!
