Tips For Getting Into An OTA Program + Textbook To Pass Exam!

I'm going into my final fieldwork rotation this month and I want to start studying for the exam while I'm in fieldwork. I've heard mixed reviews about the TherapyEd book is that the only book you used to study or did you use any of the NBCOT study pack materials

Hi, I wanted to ask if you think that institutes are looked down on by employers. I was just accepted into Pima medical institute and I’m just a bit concerned about this. The school is accredited as a healthcare school as well as by the OT board. May I also ask why you went from psychology to OT?

Do you have any tips or suggestions to help study and pass the kinesiology class. Everyone is saying this is the class they struggled with. Do you suggest any certain flash cards or study stuff. The school I’m applying for doesn’t require prerequisites but I never thought about volunteer hours or letters of recommendation. I’m definitely looking into doing that now before my formal interview. Thank you so much!

In California the OTA programs are impacted and can can take 3 + years to get in depending on the school you chose and some community colleges have a lottery system when applying for their program. There is no guarantee… some people are lucky and get in right away and it can be a waiting game. I don’t want to wait so I decided to take another route and apply to an accredited private college that offers the program the cost is up there, but I don’t mind investing into my career.
