This is a video walking tour of the new Shakespeare Festival theater (and surrounding area) in Cedar City, Utah. Technically, it is the Engelstad Shakespeare Theater, and it officially opened on July 7, 2016. This open-air theater is reminiscent of Elizabethan theaters, but with modern amenities and technology, and is an outdoor-replica of Shakespeare's Globe Theater in London. Seating 921 patrons, the theater is the crown jewel of the Utah Shakespeare Festival, which runs annually from June-October. Located on the campus of Southern Utah University, it is also used for educational programming. The festival was founded in 1961 and is one of the oldest and largest Shakespeare festivals in North America. Each season typically attracts over 100,000 visitors with a budget of over $7 million. Cedar City is within a day's drive of seven national parks and numerous national and state forests, monuments, and recreation areas. I make it a point to attend the festival every year, as it is a quick 2.5 hour drive from my home in Las Vegas. Thanks for watching! Please Like, Share, and Subscribe! I appreciate you!
