Beyond Labels Book Club | Chpt 4, Bites 1-5

Great discussion, glad you're having it. I was a leader in the GMO movement and am wholeheartedly embracing this book and these discussions, however I stopped watching after 15 minutes of video there were commercials every 3-5 minutes. I can appreciate your need for revenue but do you realize what does to your audience??? Turn off. I'll read the book.

Totally LOVE Anna's definition for the FDA. It was research about food that led me to start questioning and paying attention to everything that goes on in the government. And Anna, I also have the same situation with my husband. He eats crap and I'm trying to cut out all the crap. And I totally agree with Tangi about the organic bureaucracy with the labeling. I wouldn't ever pay the tons of money for a government label and I don't agree with many of the things they allow on their guidelines. So when I ask a local farmer, I don't care if they have the label, I listen to what they say they do and roll the dice by just believing them. In the store, I look for the label because that's really all I have to do on in that circumstance.

I agree with Candace. I pretty much gave up on our local Farmers Market. After talking with a few I now get my organic produce at Natural Grocery, they only sell organic produce and protein.

I want to ferment, but I'm afraid to. I'm afraid of making my family sick.
