Not sure which of my Uncles had an "On-Tractor" corn picker, but I do remember that the person operating it had to stand up in order to see down into the picker while watching for plugs and staying on the rows.
As I remember, these offered the advantage of "Opening" the field without knocking down whole rows of corn. I seem to remember that these sometimes lead to the tractor engine overheating.
