great advice but do house primers come in greys?

actually woulnt be better just to stick w white if the top coat is the normal navaho white?

what about the paints that are pre mixed w primer you can get now? i guess you still have to use 2 coats of that to cover a way off color anyway but idk.

Hi, white should be ok. But there are many shade of white. The concept behind grey is that is tricks the eye and blends with the top coat better than other colors under the top coat. It also makes the top coat brighter to the eye.

I spoke to a couple paint companies and the paint and primer combos are not true primers. Primers are a completely different chemical compound. Primers penetrate and seal giving a uniform surface for paint to adhere to. I think the paint and primer combo is a marketing concept. Most painter recommend 2 coats for a great finish.

so the mixed is a waste of money?

If you are painting an interior wall and the old paint is in good shape, a primer and paint combo will work great. I would always use a primer over big changes in color, new drywall, graffiti or water stains. Primer will give your paint a better finish and performance.

Can we mix a color to the primer while I have white walls of my room I don't want a glossy finish on my walls but a matte one.. Can a dark color look good with only one finish or two on a base of white?
