scp wasn't originally horror, it had horror, but as the most wholesome and more importantly most horrible scps gained most popularity... well, the more horror flavored and edgy things became exponentially more common

I grew up in a religious household, every day I lived under the impression that there was an all powerful being watching everything and at times it was comforting, at others it was invasive. But after a while and after i had moved away from home, i was able to explore my own thoughts and do some research on the subject of religions and gods. I eventually came to the conclusion that either god does not exist or it does not intervene with the world, and the idea of god/gods was born from ancient peoples trying to understand the world around them and refusing to believe that there is no agency behind the natural forces that affect them. This realization did not rob me of hope or throw me into a pit of existential despair, it made me appreciate life more as I realized this is the one shot I get at this life, I want to enjoy it, and where I can, enrich the lives of those around me for the better. Not because I expect a reward at the end, but because the more good I bring, the more good will come my way, and I appreciate the people who bring good into my life and I know they appreciate it when I bring good into theirs.

But I do understand how people can find the absence of a god disturbing. Knowing that its up to us to save our selves and there is no great caretaker ensuring our survival is a nightmare for people who are dependent on others. But that, like it or not, is the world we live in. Its up to us to deflect a world ending meteor heading our way, its up to us to spread our species across the stars, its up to us cure our illnesses, extend our lives, and protect our world. God is not coming to save the day when every day is a day that needs saving, its up to us to turn this horror show into a paradise.

Including "When Day Breaks" is an amazingly good pick. Nicely done. Please do more SCP files.

If we're talking about the god of the bible, given the fact the descriptions of his behavior means he's 100% evil and has managed to gaslight billions of people into thinking he's good, we would be better off abandoned by him.

40k is the darkest universe. There is nothing redeemable about it. No matter what detail of another universe you think is the most horrifying i assure you there is something in 40k worse. It literally invented the genre grimdark.

While Necromunda is a subset of Warhammer 40k, it is a very dark and hopeless universe. Probably one of the most bleak that I've come across, personally.

I used to like SCP, but then I realized that the people running the community to this day have protected a person who should not be around children, protecting him from his victims and from the public. That's the real horror of SCP, that the people who oversee the curation of the stories don't care about common sense law.

I've suffered in my life (deaths of two biological and then two foster parents by age 23, abuse, mental and other problems) and I've never believed in any god (although as a child I've been taken to church as a kid). All experiences gave me... a perspective.
The things mentioned in video are quite obvious to me. World without hope, purpose, any god etc. But, at some point of my life, I came into realization, that was quite important to me. How much reality is subjective. Each being has a complete unique perspective and way they see the world around. If, due to my traumas, I see world as cold and "evil"... then it is. We, humans, cannot perceive objective reality, because no matter how much we try, we cannot "go outside" our limited bodies and minds.
The thing is... it's up to you to create your hope, your purpose and maybe even happiness (however you define it). If you believe in some god, then it is real to you. If you don't, then it is reality to you. Just maybe don't jump out the window saying "gravity isn't real to me" ;)
For me this perspective is a bit freeing. But I also understand, that it may be not that easy to think this way. And if you're suffering it is a good thing to reach for help, to maybe change your perspective even by a little bit.

You really over romanticized the cenobites. They showed multiple times they had no problem killing and trying to kill innocent people. They may try to justify themselves, but they are def evil

Thank you for giving me a genre for my novel. Its a cosmic/theological horror.

I explore the system wide collapse of a multiverse when the pantheon overseeing that fragment of eternity are swiftly destroyed.

The celestials maintained the rebirth and reincarnation of good and pure souls and the infernal forces get the bad ones etc.

But fallen God shows up and puts all warfare between good and evil to a screeching halt.

No one knows what happened. Or how it happened. The celestials are scrambling, trying to control the system while their power dwindles.

They come to a dangerous realization. Since no one is there to enforce the previously forbidden things, they shouldnt be considered forbidden anymore.

Things go south FAST.

Honestly I'd say the most unsettling (and straight-up jarring) universe is what was depicted in Phil Tippett's opus "Mad God"

I consider myself pretty desensitized, but even as a middle aged man I still have nightmares centered around just the environments in that movie.

It’s a natural phenomenon and they’re just animals likely just as confused as the people trapped in the mist. And that means their problem can be solved with simple application of fire and bullets

They were traveling away from salvation, what they did to try to fix their situation actively made it worse. They did the one thing worse than nothing
