Plastic surgeon Paul Henreid molds the face of a woman (Lizabeth Scott) who rejected him onto the mug of a horribly scarred prison inmate (also played by Scott), and proceeds to wed the parolee despite her social-misfit status. Now, of course, the original gal reappears, and Henreid has one Scott too many--the "new" one dangerously psychotic!

Director: Terence Fisher
Stars: Paul Henreid, Lizabeth Scott, Mary Mackenzie, Andre Morell, John Wood, Susan Stephen

We may not be tops in everything anymore! But Hollywood never fails to entertain!

Thank you for posting this movie. I've been looking for it for years to see again. This is without a doubt Lizabeth Scott's best performance movie.

Even then they still didn’t have the tech for good backdrops. How weird the actors had to act while there is a projector screen.

A rather interesting view of “beauty is only skin deep.” Two women who are identical in looks but in nothing else because the “copy” was just that: a superficial imitation.

Good movie. Same face. Different personalities. You cannot disguise what your heart holds. The truth reveals itself in our behaviors.

This is early work by future Hammer stalwart Terence Fisher. Its a nice tight melodrama which is no surprise as Fisher cut his teeth as an editor. Also you may notice future screenwriter Jimmy Sangster credited as Assistant Director. Fisher, Sangster and Anthony Hinds would go on to collaborate in some of the most legendary Horror films ever made. This movie can be seen as a percursor or warm up to Curse of Frankenstein which got the whole Gothic cycle going. Henreid is a bit stilted here but Lizabeth Scott more than offsets him. Love this movie I'd give it 4/5 stars.

WHAT DOES A " GOD", HAVE TO DO WITH THIS VIDEO? HOW ABSURD. ESPECIALLY DURING WORLD WAR 11, MANY COUPLES FELL IN LOVE QUICKLY. IT'S BECAUSE THE YOUNG MEN NEEDED SOMEONE TO COME HOME TO. BOOST THEIR MORAL, SO TO SPEAK. MOST WOMEN WANTED TO BE MOTHERS& HOME MAKERS. ALOT OF THOSE MARRIAGES LASTED TO THEIR DEATHS. ALOT MORE THAN I CAN SAY FOR THE LAST 50YRS! FOR MYSELF, NEVER BEEN MARRIED. JUST A THEORY I HAVE. 🫂

Wonderful movie made even better by the nice and clear print. I love these old b/w classic movies, but sometimes the copies are of poor quality and you strain your eyes trying to keep up with what's what and who's who. 🎦

THANK YOU very much for uploading this bodacious "blast from the past" for us to enjoy ! Lily should have watched out for that first step off the train. It was a lulu ! To be honest, I had never heard of this independent American/British co-production before now. Ms Scott & Mr Henreid are two of my favorite stars from Hollywood's Golden Age. And til now I thought I'd seen or at least heard of every film they'd appeared in. I enjoyed it very much ! Noir is my favorite movie genre & this was certainly a gem. CHEERS !
