There are no halves, the first three movies(or IV,V,VI if you want to be incorrect) were never meant to be IV,V,VI they were just the respected names. It was only after the prequel trilogy was made that the first trilogy was changed to be IV,V,VI. Therefore there are no halves it is just the different trilogies respectively

They really f***ed up episode 8. I seriously think it's because they are too distracted on appealing to SJWs. They vandalized Luke's character; they should've made him more of a mentor and probably more involved in other ways... Instead they just had Luke toss his lightsaber away and drink milk from some weird animal, then they go on about destroying the past. It's kind of cynical and disrespectful. I suppose the director thought he was being edgy and cool but really it's just vandalism. I hope ep9 makes Rei be Luke's daughter and gives some flashbacks about that or something.

ok,. years later as I am want to wonder, here's my theory. Po is the 'hero's journey' of the new trilogy. it isn't Han who meets Rey and sets her on her path to face the dark force. It's Leah who sends Po to look for a map and return it to the resistance. It isn't Rey who gets trained by Luke, because he doesn't, in preparation to face the darkness, it's Leah and Hodo who 'hard school' Po about being a leader and prepping him to face the final confrontation. Rey doesn't gather a 'band of brothers in arms' it's Po who recruits Finn, encourages Rose and calls on 'old friends' to fight for freedom from tyranny and face the darkness. Considering Abrams' subversion of who was the real caretaker of the Island in Lost, it's no real stretch of the imagination to see who it is that is truly the focus of the new trilogy.

He only renamed Star Wars to Episode IV: A New Hope because he thought it gave the impression of a serial. He wanted people to know they were entering a story that had been in progress, even though it hadn't.
