- Take the clay you cleaned before (see Part 1)
- Wedge very well to get rid of air and extra moisture
- Optional: For better plasticity wrap in plastic and leave to mature for a few months
- Check plasticity. Ideally, there shouldn’t be any cracks when you bend or squeeze it
- Roll a slab
- Prepare shrinkage tests for your usual temps
- Sign the tests
- Put the tests on unwanted plate and fire
- Examine the tests for firing temp and shrinkage
- This clay is not vitrified at 1050C (cone 04) and melted at 1200C (cone 6)
- Possible applications: low fire clay body; high fire glaze; addition to high fire bodies to lower the temp
