Ok, awesome the bear won, it's one of the greatest television shows in recent memory if not of all time, but best comedy is a strange award for it to win, since the bear is definitely more focused on the drama aspects.

i just watched this show off the strength of these awards thinking it was gonna be comedy... weird categorization. anyway just finished season one and i am in tears

The Bear isn't a comedy, and it's kind of stupid that the only way the Emmys gave it recognition is via the comedy category. It should have been nominated for best drama, and still should have won.

This was nonsense...firstly the Bear is not a comedy...second it's a good show...nothing deserving of an Emmy over the other shows.

Canadians are built different

The Bear is a shot at the target. Since Netflix's successful Chef's Table, audiences have been asking for a series based on this culinary context. Obviously there were some films that surfed the wave, but nothing in this proportion. I believe that from what I watched in the 2 seasons, the story should have about 5 seasons, with the story well tied together without getting lost and becoming overwhelming.

All the nominees are great! It’s hard to pick just one but The Bear is so deserving. Fantastic writing, cast and acting! Well done!

For the comedy category, I feel it's safe to believe a large amount of consideration for the award would go to whether a show is actually... funny.
Call me crazy.
It is easily underestimated how difficult comedy is to pull off, let alone to stand out from the rest. The other shows in this category were discredited. Comedy again gets the shaft.
I agree with a commentor from a different website, "I laughed a lot more during the Sopranos." Now THAT show had a LOT of funny scenes, jokes, and characters; its wit was off the charts. No one thought the Sopranos was a comedy.
