At what point can the prong be removed?
ОтветитьPeople say prong is abuse… letting a dog pull, choke, and go nuts with a normal flat collar for god knows how long is abuse..
With a prong there will be a small timelapse of discomfort for the dog to be able to enjoy healthy walks for the rest of his/her life
Sometimes I need my dog to heel though. Which do you teach first - loose leash or heel?
ОтветитьI have 2 years old mix bread reactive drama queen. We fix pooling in 2 days!! 🎉🎉
And you dont need prong collar. Thanks very very much!
Now for reactivity.... 😬
You sound like you are from the States. Prong collars are absolutely illegal in the most developed European countries. They cause pain, and serious damage the lymph nodes, salivary glands, traquea etc. They are described as inhumane by the law for a reason. Maybe other techniques take longer, but there is no pain and bodily harm inflicted on our best and most devoted 4 legged friends. Food for thought.
ОтветитьSo painful to watch the GSD yelping, crying in pain..
ОтветитьIm so sick and tired of prong collars. They are illegal in a lot of countries inc mine. Give us something else to work with
ОтветитьCan I just use a vest since my dog has a collapsed trachea already?
ОтветитьHow would you use a prong collar on an overactive but very timid and fearful dog? Without decapitation, of course.
ОтветитьThis has made the most sense to me than any other video I've seen! The perceived positive reinforcement when getting to the intended target is so true!!
With that being said, I had a pittie for 15 years that was STRONG...he was about 68 lbs. A trainer here got me a prong collar and a thin paracord leash she made. I could walk him with one finger when he had the prong collar on. But he was smart, as soon as I put a leash on him wo the prong collar it was game on for him. I lost my pittie last summer. RIP my love..
Fast forward, I got lyme and developed some kind of allergy to dogs that only showed up w intradermal allergy test so I got a goldendoodle after falling in love w one my sis was dogsitting. I wanted a standard size. I had no clue they get to 100 lbs. My 9 mo old was 86 lbs on his 9 mo bday. And I'm waiting (and my vet agrees) to neuter him til he's fully developed. Idk if it's because I'm older, but at 9 mo old, my goldendoodle is so much stronger than I remember my pittie being. I've had laminectomies and last night he got excited when a truck full of kids stopped and pulled me to the ground. It's so painful. Other than that, we run, walk and play every day so I am pretty fit. But I have to do something because I sometimes just can't handle him.
I just ordered a front clip harness. And I am wondering if a shock collar will be better to train him and more permanent solution when he's not wearing it. I just know it wasn't a punishment that my pittie feared when he wasn't wearing the prong collar and with my puppy's hair, it would be a nightmare to use all the time.
Would a shock collar produce more permanent results or would it be the same thing, he'd only be good when it was on? That's so frustrating that they know when the threat (punishment) is imminent LOL. What are your thoughts on that?
Where can i get this leash ? Please ? @hamiltondogtraining
ОтветитьHe is having a job your right... watch you do you don't hurt him. Lol. Terrible and shameful
ОтветитьThank you for this. I’m trying to work with my German shepherd and this was so helpful
ОтветитьWhat’s a prong collar ?
ОтветитьHow about a training video on how to teach the dogs owners to not to allow their animals to poop and pee in people's front yard and destroying the flowers
Ответитьthis is so over complicated 😂 just watch joel beckman
Ответитьive just started my dog on this shes 1 year old everythings been working for her but how do i get her to stop pulling me when she wants to get to something everytime she sees my mum or niece ahead she tries pulling me
ОтветитьThey have banned prong collars in Australia. Makes the job that much harder. E collars are banned too
ОтветитьI watched this whole video. I just adopted my dog 2 weeks ago. She was just like zeke. Did u turns and sporadic and she is already COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! She pays attention to me, she will feel the tension on the leash and then look and turn. It's amazing!! Thank you!!!!!!
ОтветитьMy dog pulls only when in traffic, having a bit of trouble getting her to slow down, she is a 6 month old shepsky
ОтветитьNo you don t handle a dog who don t know you like that .he just don t know you..wants to the owner...the handler..
why not get to know him first...engagment take 10 min...respect and trust ...than you don t need a pronge...soooo many country s can train whithout...and have good walking dogs.
I think you a good trainer...but never ever stop learning
In Germany prong collars are prohibited by law. What kind of consequence would you choose in training instead?
ОтветитьThanks Lis and Zahli - looking forward to getting back into training with Marvin 🎉❤
ОтветитьIs this an on line course? Or do we travel to your facility? Also how long do we have access to the training program?
ОтветитьWhat if you have a lot of time, and open space, and want to allow your dog to just do its thing; sniffing. Is that a bad thing in itself, or just a bad habit only in relation to a structured walk?
ОтветитьHow does this work when you need to walk 2 dogs at a time. It seems like i need more control than them being allowed to mova all over. Any suggestions?
ОтветитьA prong collar is forbidden in the netherlands. It can hurt a dog: what do you suggest?
Ответитьour dog is like the german sheppard, but a 11 month old pup labrador retriever. I am basically the only one training and walking him. i have fibromyalgia and my arms are the weakest link in my body. how would you suggest I handle training please?

ОтветитьGreat stuff! In one day I went from walking the Tasmanian Devil to walking a 5mo old Australian Shepherd. Good point that you are training us as well. 😊🎉
ОтветитьTack!
ОтветитьThank you!!!!!! Finally a video that makes sense and adresses what we are going through! I’ll be back in a week to tell you all how it went 😊

The U-Turn is such an underrated method. I have started this method and it has worked so well I rarely even use a leash now. She just sticks by me with the command "Follow". Beautiful method here 🎉
ОтветитьProng collars are banned in my area.
ОтветитьMy dogs never pulled but took up all the leash they could. After this they walk amazing and non reactive our walks are like a game to them now and they love it !
ОтветитьAll these videos saying it takes 15 minutes is BS. My dog is fucking ridiculous.
ОтветитьI can't use a prong collar, and trying to teach my dog with a flat collar is really hard.
ОтветитьYou need to get to the point good lord
ОтветитьI am trying this and I'm just on the first phase but instead of my puppy looking at me/following me, he is getting frustrated and is biting and pulling on the leash. How should I handle this?
ОтветитьSniffing is a normal thing for a dog to do. Aren't we supposed to take our time and allow them to stop and sniff around.? I understand that our dog must pay attention to us but so must we give them their freedom as well... right?
ОтветитьThank you! I adopted a Boston Malinois he doesn't pull just wants to go twards left of my leash. ( i walk on the left cause im left handed)😊😊
ОтветитьThano you so teaching me about dangers of flar collar. I had no idea
Ответитьbest dog trainer on yt - by a mile!
ОтветитьCan this be done without the prong collar?
ОтветитьI’ve been having a huge battle of wills and an unenjoyable experience every time I walked my 9 month white shepherd until I watched this video and today did everything you said. It was amazing, worked like a charm. I was one who fought trying to walk her in a continuous heel and love what you said that heel walking is your pet peeve and that you believe in letting your dog be a dog while walking. I can’t thank you enough for your wisdom in this video, you are a superb trainer! And have restored my relationship ❤ with my puppy.
