My grandfather was killed by the Japanese when they invaded Korea. My father recently received the Korean equivalent of the medal of honor because my grandfather stayed to defend Korea when he'd already been relieved to go home. His replacement didn't show, so he couldn't abandon his men. Captain Rolland Bacon.
ОтветитьThis is really incomplete and misleading without mentioning the date and a few basic reasons for the rout. Could have done it in 20 seconds.
ОтветитьLoving it
ОтветитьOpen battle in the middle of the ocean? No thanks. Chances of getting stranded at sea and surviving were probably very low after a battle, and that's if you made it to land. Even then, search and rescues couldn't do much, if any.. These dudes were just built different. Then again, they didn't have much of a choice. I wonder what the statistics are on this, would be interesting to learn.
Ответитьやむを得ず、原爆の火を使いましょう
ОтветитьNone of this will have mattered if you don’t vote blue 💙
ОтветитьGoooooo 🇯🇵💪
ОтветитьThe hellcat wasnt a very good plane thank god for an upgrade!!!
ОтветитьThe color footage in this video is remarkable! You can clearly see the "Rising Sun" insignia on the Japanese planes being shot down.
Ответитьahh yes The Smithsonian "Giants aren't real and we don't have any evidence".
ОтветитьMy Great Grandpa, Dan Lawrence Babione, was on the USS South Dakota durring all of the war. He saw a man that had been blown in half by that kamikaze hit. He had to give him morphine. He then made a little ring out of a piece of magnisuim from the zero. Sadly, it was lost. RIP Grandpa Babione
Ответить80 years ago today.
ОтветитьOf the men who fought in this war, we owe them. We owe their memory, we owe them our thanks and our prayers that they find peace in heaven through the grace of God and never have to fight again. This was global conflict on an up close and personal level I pray we never see again. May we never have to have another such war. 🇺🇸
ОтветитьPossibly the greatest generation to walk on the planet. Many nations in Pacific rim including Australia ow the U.S. a debt of gratitude. The Japanese started the conflict, the U.S. finished it.
ОтветитьAmazing aerial gunnery by these Hellcat pilots. This was years before radar assisted gunsights, these guys were literally calculating in their brains where the bullets needed to go based on the speed and angles of their planes. An amazing generation, especially when you realize these guys were only 21 years old or so.
ОтветитьHe wasn’t kidding when he said a halo of smoke, that’s absolutely ghoulish. Like seriously, 24 men die and a halo of smoke appears over their place of death. That’s spooky
ОтветитьWhat a wonderful video and words... thanks so much for share this my friend...
ОтветитьI would have aimed for the cockpit
ОтветитьAir raid siren on an aircraft carrier for dramatic effect huh? Thats some c grade average film school editing hackage alright.
ОтветитьAt the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them ! Lest we forget !
ОтветитьGobble, gobble.
ОтветитьThe absolute weirdest, yet awesome naval Battle of all time. All love and respect to the fallen of both sides.
ОтветитьWas the original film color or black and white?
Ответитьlike a BR 5.0 vs BR 2.0 lol
ОтветитьCan you imagine asking the pansies of today to do this???
ОтветитьWhere "boys" are "MEN"...and now they can't decide whether to have a gender change.
Ответить🇺🇸 USA
ОтветитьMy grandfather was in the navy for WW2. His main ship was the USS Quick a destroyer later made a minesweeper. Later in the war he was transferred to a cruiser but before she set sail he got a bad case of pneumonia and had to be hospitalized. The ship was the USS Indianapolis. If you know you know.
Ответитьsheesh
ОтветитьI feel elated when I see see the enemy shot down, but awful when I don't see the pilot eject. In any case, it was a great 'rout', not 'route'.
ОтветитьThese actual footage videos are awesome
Ответитьits hard to watch these as someone heavily involved with asian culture i have many friends from korea and japan but i also live in america. i never can look at this as an us vs them because i know people from japan who are awesome it was a different time for both countries. americans might feel pride seeing the japanese get shot down i feel sadness i also feel sadness seeing the kamikaze strike and hearing in the comments about the USS chenango. war is so easy to see as a "were the good guys" both american and japanese showed great bravery and for similar reasons. the imperial japanese were prideful and that was their downfall...the US is very proud. sometimes it worries me just how proud the US has become. Incredible moments caught props to all the men who lost their lives on both sides
Ответитьimagine hitting a cobra maneuver
ОтветитьThe Greatest Generation.
ОтветитьMy grandpa discuss about these stories during past times...may his soul rest in peace.
ОтветитьNo wonder there's such good tuna fishing over there. Wrecks everywhere
ОтветитьThe aircraft carriers of today..will be like the battleships of ww2..against worthy adversaries...sitting ducks...the way to go is small ..frigates..armed to the teeth with missiles...like tge chinese type 55
ОтветитьYeah, you don't want to be the turkey side of a turkey shoot.
ОтветитьShould've scrambled F16s instead
ОтветитьThey somehow managed to do worse with 128 planes
ОтветитьSeeing the amount of firepower these ships had especially against the Kamikaze just how much ammunition did the battleships carry and did they reload their own ammunition
ОтветитьWhat video game is this?
ОтветитьIt all just looks like Hollywood stunts. Crazy to think this happened
Ответитьwhen you consider that in 1939 the us army was smaller than the portuguese army, 19th largest in the world, shows how the might of the american people came together and became one of the most powerful military machines the world has ever seen in such a short time is proof that this generation was one of the greatest ever. never forget what these men and women did, never forget ever.
Ответитьthe japanese navy is clearly inferior compare to the american navy.
ОтветитьMoment of silence for all the fish who died
