Companies also like to subcontract out to some poorly skilled people. My parents paid a very reputable company to put new siding on our family home. The company subcontracted it out. Well those men were related and kinda bootleg. They came to work drunk, got into fistfights every other day, one fight broke all the glass out of the largest window on the front of the house. Oh, only one person really knew how to do the work, and the others were hanging on his coattails because he couldn't complete the work on time solo. They also had a fistfight in the street, and left one man stranded with no way home. The owner of the company visited the site, saw their work, fired them all and had the company team come out & redo everything.

Man that had me rolling fence paid crap 15 years ago I could imagine what there getting now.

We just bought a house built in 86 and it easily passed inspection. New construction is actually terrible. My husband owns a framing company and the things he sees workers do is outrageous. I'll always buy older and renovate.

Man where do i start. Wrong kind of wood, nails showing and should be screws on a gate, no concrete, latch is mounted upside down, gate frame is useless the way its mounted. Throw it out and start over. What a mess.

We hired private inspectors at pre drywall and final inspection. Together we found so much wrong with the home that the builder has slipped closing by over a week. They bad mouthed him to our faces and said he was just a failed contractor but knew they had to fix the problems before we sign a single thing. Best investments my wife and I have ever made.
