Retro Freak v1.2 Disassembly

I just got my RetroFreak in the other day. I plug it in and get a yellow led light and white screen for output. I e-mail cybergadet tech support. They respond with it's a hardware issue and give me some bs saying they cant provide support out of Japan. Now i'm stuck with a worthless paperweight. Glad I didn't sell off my region modded PC Engine CoreGrafx and my Retron5 which the RetroFreak was supposed to replace.

hm, mine is a little different. mine does not have that gold cover. i haven't opened it up but i can tell by looking through the vents.

do you think the retro freak uses all 2 amps from the included power supply? it has portable-ization potential

how can you tell that it is version 1.2 and why just show only one side of the mainboard?

Thank you for this tear down video. I'm loving my retro freak more then when I first bought a retron 5, that thing was just awful! This is a decent emulation machine and does more then the retron 5 did.

I hope in the future cyber gadget can add to this by adding n64 rom dumping emulation through an adapter possibly? that way I dont have to buy another console and save space at home.

It'd be great also if someone in the future makes an all in one fpga based console like this.

i like this when it works. hard to turn on, freezes alot when switching games. if i could, i wouldnt buy it again.

Anyone know how to fix the front 3 usb ports. They give power to the 8bitdo adapter, so that part of usb works yet can't navigate through menus. Using the original control pad that came with retrofreak dosen't work either so it's not the 8bitdo adapter. If you remove the cartridge dumping part the two usb on second part works. Yet I still have cartridges I want to dump.

Thank you for your tear up video. Have you had any troubles or malfunction with your unit? Mine suddenly shut off and havent been able to turn it on since. When I press the power button the yellow light turns on, but nothing happens. If I keep the button pressed, the yellow light will keep turned on, but the system wont start either... Dont know what could be a possible solution (by the way, when the system shut off itself, it didnt made any funny noise nor any kind of burt smell). Really strange...

could you just plug the cart reader into a pc
