Wonderful. I shouldn't be casting stones about live performances, but beware b.13-b.14, where the second bass seems to anticipate b.15 early.
ОтветитьLucky enough to be there for this performance - part of another sublime concert by this wonderful ensemble. They recently did an early 2021 Choral Pilgrimage at the Kings Place, with a programme built around Allegri's Miserere, an evolved version more typical of what would have been heard in Rome - there are lots of summer and autumn performances in the UK this year - do whatever it takes to get to one of these!! Beyond words to describe how perfectly The Sixteen deliver sound to the soul.
ОтветитьThrough erudite art, the name of Christ continues to be proclaimed and the Gospel preached in an increasingly secular and progressive Europe. And all this, still, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Nothing can silence the voice of the Gospel!
ОтветитьAs a second bass who has sung this piece, I can't help noticing the second bass's gorgeous reedy sonority and resonant tintinnabulation. And what a moving rallentando at the end. A powerful work which gains even more poignancy against the background of a pandemic.
ОтветитьLovely.
