I thought this was a retrospective kind of video but then I saw the date
Ответитьthe video is aight
Ответить2021?
ОтветитьBut still sucks :v
ОтветитьStill a bad game, the chat still disconnects after a few minuts and youll thinking you'r playing alone.
ОтветитьThere are advertisements in real life.
ОтветитьReason #2,342 of why I'll never touch a game with the EA branding on it. This game has been completely abandoned shortly after this video, as EA does.
ОтветитьI would only play that game to get the nuclear plant to have a meltdown, it’s probably the only game that simulates that. I wish cities skylines did that
ОтветитьI got SimCIty upon release and was very disappointed. I still played it but got bored very quickly. I did enjoy Cities of tomorrow though but I have not played it since Cities skylines came out. I might give it another go when I get bored of Cities Skylines.
ОтветитьSimCity is dead.
Ответитьtl;dr the game is SHIT.
ОтветитьEA completely abandoned this game, they got too comfortable with their mediocrity, and then cities:skylines came and stole their momentum
ОтветитьThe only thing to save all the games that EA ruined is to buy the Maxis and all other sub-developers.
ОтветитьImagine your city just got torched by a fire lizard and Flo from Progressive gives you 10k
ОтветитьApparently they couldn't get the engine to run bigger cities without serious performance issues. That game is a failure, it couldn't scale with gamer's vision. Cities Skylines seems to have become the de facto leader in city-building simulations at this point, but SimCity could definitely make a comeback with the right development team.
ОтветитьDo a new one
ОтветитьSooo TLDR: they improved the pathfinding?
ОтветитьJust a note, years later: you still need internet to get onto Origin in the first place. So if your internet is out or off, no SimCity.
ОтветитьAnd another year after this the real SimCity that all the fans actually wanted got released. It's just called Cities: Skylines instead and actually has nothing to do with the SimCity IP.
Yeah i was sorely disappointed by the remake of SimCity too, i even bought some kind of special edition of it. But it just wasn't the game i used to love playing as a kid on our C64 and amiga 500..
did they ever expand lot sizes? My favorite is SimCity 4 b/c you can kinda share resources but build massive cities.
ОтветитьWeird things this game kind of does better than Skylines...
You can choose any kind of road at the start, rather than having to place a random 2 lane road THEN select the road you want.
I still love plopping expansions onto existing services. Why build a second elementary school when you could just make the first one bigger?
The little missions that pop up that make you feel like a mayor.
That's... that's it. Skylines is still far better, but those 3 things are what I miss in skylines from this game.
EDIT: Also cities of Tomorrow. I love the crap out of that, and still once and a while go back and play just to make the cool cities.
I was so pissed at this game amd EA, that this was the last EA game I ever bought.
ОтветитьI just viewed your 2013 review and after this one I almost want to give SimCity another chance...Almost!
ОтветитьI'm still playing this way too much 8 years later. Lol
ОтветитьBefore Fortnite, The Sims had llamas
ОтветитьOrigin stinks. After buying a used copy of Sim City 2013, I was unable to even install it since it had to be registered with Origin, and they wouldn't let me register it because it was used. I couldn't even purchase a license for the used copy. They told me I needed to buy a new copy.
Ответитьgot complete edition for the game for 4 dollars on the official website 5 years back lmaoo
ОтветитьIt's been awhile I guess.. 8 years exactly and counting.. It's a mess indeed but this game got potential and unfortunately, all that potential got wasted thanks to EA for making this game and many more awesome games a part of history :/
ОтветитьI still think 3000 was the best installment in the series. It pisses me off that they took away subway tunnels.
ОтветитьNot worth the price. Get Simcity 4, the ultimate city-building game.
If you want a modern city-building game, get Cities Skylines. (Isn't as good as Simcity4, but at least better than SimCity 2013. Even SimCity Societies is better than SimCity2013.)
This game still killed the franchise, IMO.
ОтветитьI REALLY wanted to like this game, but two things stopped me. Firstly was the GOD AWFUL 'Online Only' DRM (yes they patched it after the fact but by then it was too little too late), and then the second was the RESTRICTIVE map size. I hope for the next installment (assuming there is going to be one), that they take cues from Cities Skylines and allow us to not only play offline, but to also allow us to expand our city.
ОтветитьUnderappreciated game. Playing it right now and it's a blast. The engine with agent mechanics is such fun and more arcade-ish approach to gameplay actually makes it more realistic and engaging instead of boring-ass kilometers of buildings that do nothing in Cities: Skyline. It's really sweet to be able to track how police car catches the arsoner or how crates are being delivered to the commercial stores from industrial. Art direction, soundtrack and all little details make it very enjoyable. It's sad people didn't appreciate the "small but specialized" cities idea. And yeah, I get that it was bugged at release... It's polished right now after all DLCs and patches. Maybe unpopular opinion, but I think SimCity 2013 (with honorable mention of SimCity 4, of course), is the best city builder, still.
ОтветитьEAs stupidity almost seems cute all these years later. They aren't evil, they're just ahead of the curve on all things poop.
Ответитьdid you say niggles?
ОтветитьThe soundtrack slaps and I use it in my Cities Skylines Games
ОтветитьMy Sim City review: purchase Cities Skylines.
ОтветитьWhat's the first song?
ОтветитьThoughts today?
ОтветитьThe worst part is you need to download a separate thing to even play the game wich isn’t available
ОтветитьI don't play this version of the game, but bought the cd soundtrack to cities of tomorrow and have absolutely loved it!
ОтветитьIt’s kind of sad because Clint was so passionately in love with the sim city series through his life. And ea completely killed it, and that’s has since been the last ever simcity 2013 video from lgr. I feel for you man
ОтветитьI would like to see a "10year later" videos with the unlimlited space mods & co.
ОтветитьI don't know why, but I really enjoyed this game, both the vanilla and the expansion. Even at the launch, with all those bugs and and paying 60€ (plus 30€ for the expansion). I just have fun with it, building my town from start, seeing it grow, specializing...
I also tried Cities Skylines but, for some reason I liked this more. I guess I prefer small, specialised cities. Plus, that soundtrack is great. I made a mod for Surviving Mars just to listen the Cities of Tomorrow tracks (although I also like that game's original soundtrack).
following the paid DLC, the game was effectively abandoned. EA has shut down the servers and the offline mode is now the only way to play. You can still play multiplayer, in a P2P mode through Origin (aka the EA Desktop as it's called now), but it quickly goes out of sync and does not work as intended. FWIW, the game is pretty and with the DLC and the giga towers it can be quite fun for several hours, but it is not a simulator by any definition of the word and it still has a lot of weird behaviour that was never fixed as a result.
ОтветитьEven to this day, its still not worth it. Just buy Cities Skylines and never, ever give EA your money.
ОтветитьThis game broke my heart and I never got over it
ОтветитьIt'll never cease to amaze me when developers completely fail to read the room. The amount of people interested in SimCity who'd have wanted the multiplayer aspect would have been insanely dwarfed by the amount of people who DIDN'T want it. It completely misses the point of what a game like this is, and to limit the cities to such a small footprint is baffling. City builders are fairly niche to begin with but then to restrict what people can do in them to this degree is an incredible misstep. If you're aiming for fans of the genre, you need to be aiming for a footprint the size of a damned planet for them to go wild in not the crappy little space on here that can't even be terraformed.
ОтветитьAppearing offline does not fucken stop it.
