You really dont want to watch new history documentaries, you know what you are going to get; politics, woke, race and gender issues etc. Real history does not exist in media anymore. History is being used as a weapon.
ОтветитьThat was an interesting, informative, and well put together video. However, I must take exception with the narrator, or more exactly whoever wrote his script concerning British small arms at the time. According to the script the issue rifle went from muzzle loaders, probably the P1853 musket, to the breechloading Martini-Henri. The intermediate rifle was the Snider conversion. This was a P1853 musket converted to a breech-loader by adding a breech block. It worked much like the Allin conversion in US rifles, but swung to the side, not forward. Black powder did gum things up, even jamming rifles. However, to hold the rifle at extended arm's length as stated, because of bruised shoulders and excessive recoil, I question that. I had a Martini-Henri and its .577/450 cartridge dwarfed .45-70-405. It had a healthy recoil and I always made sure the rifle was snug to my shoulder before squeezing one off, otherwise I think I would have risked breaking it for sure. Thanks for the video, I marked it for future reference.
ОтветитьYou know what's the age of British empire? Stealing other countries wealth and money.
ОтветитьIt's right that WW2 was the bloodiest war, but if there was one good results from ww2, it's caused ,the looting and stealing other countries wealth and resources by British empire ti stopped
ОтветитьTurned it off after 5 minutes - a woke, anti-British, anti-Empire tirade. You can keep it.
ОтветитьIt's mad to think that less than 40 years later, the British would try the same tactics as the Zulu's in the battles of WW1 as they went across nomansland only to be machine gunned enmasse by the Germans. I take my hat off to all soldiers who have fallen in battle, I doubt I would be anywhere near as brave.
ОтветитьMeh... nothing brave or heroic about fighting with guns vs spears ..
ОтветитьBritish are among top sources of foreign interference in Greece and Cyprus. Let's just tell it straight the British owe trillions of dollars and looted stuff to Greece.
The British owe trillions of dollars and looted stuff to India. The British owe trillions of dollars and looted stuff to Africa. The British owe trillions of dollars and looted stuff to the Middle East.
The British owe trillions of dollars and looted stuff to Australia. When are the British going to pay their bills?
Loud background music spoils the narrative. A ten-year-old would have known better to lower the music.
ОтветитьHaiti 🏝️ slaves also beat them
ОтветитьTurn the background music off, or at least down.
ОтветитьYou gotta love the British empire 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊we brought a bit of class to the world let’s have it right
ОтветитьZulu the ancient peope who win the war against the bloody English
ОтветитьAfrican power is absolutely power
ОтветитьThe zulu people are in my heart , because im an African
ОтветитьSo the bloodiest battles are just the famous ones.
ОтветитьWhy do we have to subscribe to history programmes made by the BBC which the license payer paid for in the first place. We the British tax payer cannot access the programmes we have paid for over many years.
ОтветитьThe music? Who told you an orchestra playing at the same level of your voice was a good idea? Can't even watcg
ОтветитьThe British were badly led almost won this battle despite the leadership
Ответить"We stayed long enough to say hello and then took to our heels" -Union soldier at the battle of Shiloh during the American Civil War. That quote seems like it would be echoed by one of the soldiers during the zulu war of 1879.
ОтветитьWE ARE NOW FLOODED WITH EM
ОтветитьIm short...all tribes were fighting for control...and the best one won😊
ОтветитьThe importance of technology in warfare. The Zulus were brave warriors.
ОтветитьYou can see he did not want trouble got whAt Custer got lol
ОтветитьNow Africa is rising and uk will soon be savages 😂
ОтветитьClearly the British didn't learned from Lt.Col Custer defeat in 1876. They British were defeat in 1879. That when u invade someone lands they fighting for their families and survival.
ОтветитьFact remains is British shouldn't have been there.....just as no European should have been in the Americas why not have tried peacefully trade for what they wanted...but western capitalism drove European expansion..the whole world was populated just as now. No place except Antarctica wasn't spoken for
ОтветитьMusic is uncomfortably loud over the narration, its harder work to listen Robert Powell
ОтветитьIt's 105 miles from isandlwana to Rorkes drift, not 5 miles and the kings half brother was Dabulamanzi, not whatever it was that the narrator mangled
Ответить10.5miles not 105,,,,, typo
ОтветитьAnother colonial genocide by racists Europeans
Ответить'Durnsford was a reckless adventurer' is a description that contradicts most historical sources.
ОтветитьCan't listen to this, why the annoying music?
ОтветитьTHE CHINESE DURING KOREAN WAR CARRIED OUT SIMULAR ATTACKS ON THE UNITED NATIONS FORCES.
ОтветитьI love the music, it's not that loud lol I could still hear the narration, really puts u into the zeitgeist of that era in my opinion.🎉 there's also subtitles.
ОтветитьI really like these War documentaries!!!!👍👍😃
Ответить👑
ОтветитьThe English army was DEFEATED, by the ZULUS,and KING CETAWAYO,at ISANDHLAWANA! Despite KING CETAWAYO trying to make peace-they called the ZULUS SAVAGES,who must be stopped! I wonder what the English are calling israel, today? Angels! Hypocracy and lying has been used for INJUSTICE! They will be defeated!
Ответить2024 we are more in Europe !
ОтветитьNot that different an age: but we're now the vassal of a lawless empire)
ОтветитьA bit stupid to continue with the myth that the QM of the 24th refused to supply Durnfords troops with ammo because they didn't belong to the battalion. It was quite sensible to not issue Durnfords troops with ammo, as they used Sniders and Westley-Richards rifles that could not use the .577/.450 cartridges of the 24th. The ammo box myth is also gettingh a bit long in the tooth as every damn NCO on the firing line should have had their standard issue combination tool to hand, that included several screwdrivers. The broken ammunition boxes is more likely to have been broken into by the Zulus after the battle......
ОтветитьSpears and cow shields in the 1800s. What is to be expected.
ОтветитьDr. David Chandler is an excellent historian, without a doubt one of my favorites.
ОтветитьYou know, out of all the wars we've been involved in, over our two thousand year history, the Boer War is the one that I know the least about. Why is it hardly ever covered? Thing is, how do you think that empires are made? It's not a tickling contest. What we have done is no different than what every other empire has done over time, whether it's the Spanish, the French, the Americans etc. We were just the largest and most distinctive empire in history. If the Spanish empire had eclipsed our own empire, it would be the Spanish empire getting the flack now.
ОтветитьTotal greed, power, & glory for Great Britain in such a distasteful action of violence.
ОтветитьDie Briten können Echt Stolz drauf sein das sie mit Gewehren und Kanonen gegen einen Feind Gewonnen haben der mit Messern,Pfeil,Bogen und Speeren Bewaffnet war.Ganz große Leistung!!!
ОтветитьOrel Hershiser
ОтветитьI hope that wen we die, we will see widios ove theas days. And futer back. And maybee the beging and the end.
ОтветитьIncorrect. You say 200 Boers fought and won against 3000 Zulu. In fact it was 16000 Zulu. That was The Battle of Blood River.
