This really reminded my of the story of Darth Starmer and his oppression of the indigenious people's of the United Kingdom planet.

I'd say the worst time was the Pius Dea era from legends. It was so bad that the Jedi had a civil war. If we're talking strictly canon then maybe.

Oh come on man, you can't honestly tell me that the end of the clone war period was worse for the average citizen than the time of the sith empire under darth tenebrous, when the dark council couldn't go a year without enslaving or even killing entire planets of their own citizens as part of their endless betrayals and power struggles. the longer the emperor's reclusion lasted, the crazier those sith lords got. the galaxy was an ocean of blood and suffering for decades on end for no reason other than vitiate wanting the dark side strengthened

or what about the rakatan empire? i can't imagine what it would be like to be enslaved by such, and they had basically enslaved every non-rakatan sentient being in the known galaxy by the peak of their civilization

i bet any one of those folk would have gladly traded places with a random outer rim denizen during the fall of the republic

I think being alive in the Old Republic days would have been worse, Sith armies, Mandalorian armies, Jedi warlords untethered by the Rusan Reformation, Force cults, an untamed Outer Rim and constant warfare.

I'd say the Pius Dea period was the actual worst time to b e alive in the SW galaxy. My favorite summary of that era: "That time the star wars galaxy went on a bad acid trip and tried to be Warhammer 40k for a while". Basically the Republic became more evil than the Empire at its worst (again basically trying to emulate the Imperium from 40k) to the point that the entire Jedi Order went "#$%@ this, we quit!" and went into hiding, latter leading a rebellion that overthrew the Republic's now super evil government.

Sidious' and Tyrannus' playbook is inspired by the Communists'. They didn't do anything that Marx Mao, Stalin and so many other dictators did, promising a better future and then delivered only more hardship. They turned the people against the existing order they hated, so they can be the new power. And this sort of thing is still happening today, new names, new bodies, same evil.

Before this video starts I’m guessing inifinite empire or yuzonvong war since during the yuzonyong war it was basically genocide for any system not in the new republic and the new republic was pretty new so they were under tremendous strain already and inifnite empire because there was almost nobody to go against them and they were the cruelest empire pretty much ever

Fascinating video though. Your points at the end about the futile inevitability of Separatist holdouts fighting the Empire hearkens to the thing going on in a very sacred place that I won't mention explicitly to avoid idiotic consequences/making this comments section a target. The people there are pressed to their breaking points and even though that's used to supposedly justify making everyone around them targets they don't have any choice but to resist because otherwise everything will be stolen from them anyways. And the handful of decent people are shut out from positions which would allow them to exercise that.

Darth Sidious didn't bring down the Republic alone. The Senate endorsed his ideas and values, and plenty of public servants implemented his agenda. THAT is the true horror of the galaxy's descent into totalitarian dictatorship: people voted for it.

You are doing a superb job of using the Star Wars material to make a living for yourself and your wife.

I one thing that these shows never touch on,Darth Vader is a part of the empire,as a boy he was a slave which the republic condoned.the vaunted jedi knights themselves didn't eradicate the practice even though they could have.vader seemed to take the practice personal and from what I understand of it,brought it to an end.
