Devil’s Backbone North Eleuthera Channel Entrance to Romora Bay Marina and Resort

This is a time lapse of us entering the northern channel near Spanish wells on a 80’ Yacht with 5.5’ draft, en route to Romora Bay followed by a most amazing sunset! At one point the depth gauge read 1’ of water below the props. Definitely a tricky entry, local pilots are available to bring your vessel in from the sea.

The devil's backbone is a shallow and jagged-edge reef, extending across the northern end of Eleuthera, about 1.4 miles northeast of Spanish Wells. It has rip the bottom out of more vessels than any other reef in the country, leaving them to settle among the sharp coral. Today it is known as a snorkeler's paradise and is waiting to be explored
