Be careful fellas,
Looking into her eyes will turn you to st
Here comes the Medusa viper.
ОтветитьStop motion villains are so creepy. I think it’s because of the low tech effects which give them such an unnatural feeling when they move. It’s unique and of its time.
ОтветитьNever saw this...very scary😮😮😮😮😮
ОтветитьThe close-up of her face and her eyes lighting up when she turns the guy to stone still packs a punch more than forty years later.
ОтветитьI love the sound effects of this version.
ОтветитьI saw this at the movie theater when I was a kid, I could have sworn Medusa had visible nipples.
ОтветитьI love the whole sequence beginning with the ferry to the island to Medusa's death. Probably my favorite part of the movie.
ОтветитьWhen growing up..like the other films..I always thought it was a grandad film..I just wanted cartoons and spaceship movies..how minds ..change when u age..its now a classic..no dought will be remade over and over..just like myths..😉
ОтветитьIm NOT A ALLOWED POINT OF VIEW OR TOPIC OR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM
ОтветитьI watched this movie as kid...i had it on video tape... So manny times i watched it
ОтветитьI don’t know why this doesn’t look terrifying to me but I should be because of her eyes
ОтветитьAnother example of the genius and brilliance of Ray Harryhausen.
ОтветитьTo be fair, even if Medusa was evil, they went to HER home with the intention of killing her despite no prior beef. The ethics of that are questionable, if Perseus represents 'good'.
ОтветитьThe most obvious weapon here, a huge bow with a crescent-headed arrow meant for beheading that can shot from a further range than Medusa's petrification range, is not what the Greeks brought to the fight.
ОтветитьIf I looked into those eyes, you wouldn't need to turn me to stone: I'd be frozen with fear, my heart would probably stop beating from terror.
ОтветитьIt'd be an interesting twist if Medusa was blind, and could only detect you by smelling fear
ОтветитьThis is probably ray harryhausen best scene he ever animated, and trust me that's saying a lot!
Ответитьmy favorite scene from that fantastic movie, although the supremacist attitude of "killing anything that looks monstrous in our eyes is totally ok and super heroic" got on my nerves already when I was 7 years old.
ОтветитьDoes anyone know the filming location? I know the entrance is the temple in Paestum, Italy.
ОтветитьCapadona 🎉🎉🎉🎉😂
ОтветитьMasterpiece ever. Greatness
ОтветитьJ'ai besoin de titans complet si c'est possible
ОтветитьCGでは絶対に出せない動きと不気味さ。素晴らしい!
ОтветитьReminds me of the early Diablo cinematics. There's just something raw and frightening about stop motion compared to the the elaborate CGI we have nowadays
ОтветитьMedusa's gaze won't affect anyone who's blind.
ОтветитьAlways watch this when I still very tender,😂 n am so excited watching it again
ОтветитьLove this Ray Harryhousen animation. They did a documentary about Ray back in the 90’s on the SciFi channel and he had in the background of his sitting room, the head of Medusa, the figure of Medusa who was used in the film, and the figure of Pegasus. I’m pretty sure he had the Kraken, Calibos, and Bubo the owl around there somewhere. When I spotted all of those characters I was like, “OH… MY… GOD!!!!” It was pretty cool. 😁😁😁
ОтветитьI used to live with that girl. She is an exotic dancer! She is great until you give her one too many drinks.
ОтветитьVor der Szene habe ich immer die meiste Angst. Man möge den Beteiligten immer zurufen "Pass auf !" Bin mir nicht sicher, glaube aber, dass für die Grünen einige Medusen im BUndestag sitzen.
ОтветитьBest version of Medusa. She reminds me of someones mother I know. This os the face we can all adore. Also they could play turn to stone by ELO.
ОтветитьLook how smart Perseus is on this battle. He knows he can’t see her, otherwise he would die. But the fact that Medusa had a bow and many arrows makes the task much harder. Because not only does he needs to not look at her, but also take cover from range attacks, which requires him to forcefully see his enemy. However, the cave is surrounded of dead petrified bodies that limits mobility and the torches are located in way in which Medusa can perfectly see where is her prey.
So what does he do? He moves back, hitting and throwing the torches to another direction in order to distract Medusa, eliminating her environmental advantage and forcing her move close to him in order to cut her head. With that strategy, Medusa can’t have a clear shot, but there’s still the fact that she can move to another direction and not go where Perseus wants to. So then he makes the final perfect move, he throws his shield as bait, so that Medusa can get closer to the exact point where Perseus can use his sword.
This is why I like Perseus as a mythological figure and as a character on this movie. He learns from his past mistakes (when he went to Callibus’ swamp without noticing that he got discovered and was confident with his helm of invisibility) and becomes a strategist and an improviser. He is not a hero that puches through his problems like Heracles, his strongest weapon is his cunning and ability to adapt to the situation. In the myth is described that he figures out how to avoid Medusa’s gaze by walking backwards instead of normally moving forward. Maybe he had help from her sister Athena, but he was also pretty clever.
I wonder what she does when no one’s around on the island. Do you think she’s into gaming?
ОтветитьI watched it at school during 3rd period art last year in 6th grade and this year in 7th grade we watched it again
ОтветитьAnybody questions why this is better than the remake. The answer is....
If you make fantasy too real it loses the quality of a nightmare
- Ray Harryhausen
This is far more scary than the reboot.
ОтветитьThis is one of the most terrifying monster sequences ever in a film. Being a child in the 80s, this scene was notorious for being the scariest thing you could ever see.
ОтветитьOMG 👅 Harry Hamlin was yummy 👅
ОтветитьShe's having a SERIOUSLY bad hair day
ОтветитьI first saw this in a drive-in movie theater at 8 years old. Damn near spilled my soda when Medusa showed up 😂
ОтветитьYou can clearly hear that the soundtrack from Diablo 1 is inspired from this scene. Amazing music and amazing suspense.
ОтветитьSomeone needs to make this a video game :)
ОтветитьScared me straight when I first saw this as a kid, although I am wondering how Perseus spun around throwing flames and dodging arrows WITHOUT accidentally looking at Medusa. 🤔
ОтветитьA very underrated film
ОтветитьStill nicer than my ex wife.
ОтветитьWhy is this movie not available anymore?
ОтветитьLots of memories
