Apart from the capitalist blunder, yeah, pretty much. True, the Amsterdam stock exchange was the first of its kind, but capitalism is way more than just stocks and bonds. The Dutch were not the first capitalist empire, they just turbocharged it. It was the maximisation of profits, the ultimate capitalist anthem, that drove the Portuguese to Brazil, Africa, the colonies and the rest. Had it been true, then Portugal would have stuck to the spice trade and nothing else.
ОтветитьStolen from us by dirty politicians and oligarchs.
ОтветитьThis is awesome
ОтветитьI can already hear the college Communist.
Confusingly raving about how capitalism ended colonialism
There are so many mistakes in this summary I can't even begin to state them. Most things over-simplified and many things just wrong history
ОтветитьCornelis de Houtman was a protestant christian not jewish, consider that the expulsion of jews from both Portugal and Spain was also because of their collaboration with the muslim ocupation of the peninsula. Basically jews bet on the wrong horse.
ОтветитьHow amusingly ironic to hear such a snarky retelling being narrated with a british accent hahaha. god save your king
ОтветитьWhat a fake shitty mini doc
ОтветитьWhere did you get that the Dutch East India Company was created by exhiled Portuguese Jews? The timeline does match with activities of The Inquisition but I can't find anything else on it, mind sharing your sources?
ОтветитьABSOLUTE IS THE WORD OF THE DAY
ОтветитьIt's quite funny that the English accuse Portugal of piracy when it is well known that they, the English, were the greatest pirates of all time.
ОтветитьFake vídeo

ОтветитьSoo the joos wete behind portugese downfall. Well ×3
ОтветитьCanot be soft with traitors.
ОтветитьEIC actually came before the VOC, and VOC lost out due to the Anglo-Dutch treaty
Ответитьso it's really the jews every single time
ОтветитьPortuguese = pirates, but english and the dutch = entrepreneurs. Nice way to fake the historical truth.
ОтветитьI believe he just acknowledged that Austrian Painter Man was right all along about the Juice. They did indeed forge Capitalism to benefit themselves and become their own global empire which secretly controls world trade and business.
Ответить"The writing was on the wall... and not in Portuguese." - Best one liner I've heard from you so far. Love your stoic humor.

ОтветитьInteresting Fact: Portugal tried to return Macaw to China early due to all the organized crime
ОтветитьIt wasnt capitalism that put Portugal in.
Portugal simply got outcompeted by its rivals.
You did not say Pruthugees Goa and pruthugees ceylon
Ответитьwe didn't lost it, we gave it away
ОтветитьRegarding the African colonies, Portugal actually went to war against them. Known as Guerra do Ultramar, the African countries were helped by Russia and Eua by selling weaponry to them (it was in their best interest to do so, not only they would profit but also would debilitate Portugal). In the end, we had to retreat after 13 years of war, corruption also had a huge factor in the independence... Mário Soares sold the independence in exchange for personal riches for himself. Mário Soares is one of the biggest corrupts in our history, sadly our scum criminals rather kill innocent people than the right people xD He and his family should lose all the dirty money they stole over the decades.
The biggest factor in the independence... was people getting manipulated into thinking they would have better lives and that the Portuguese were the problem... As you can see all the colonies were heavily exploited by their rulers. (I'm in favor of independence, just know at the time, the people who fed those ideas and plotted those events were only interested in taking the power and stealing the country themselves, some were even Portuguese or descendants of Portuguese... xD That's why we have heavy corruption everywhere xD
Well well well, would you look at that, the juice again, overthrowing yet another empire, oy vey, they sure do hate competition when it comes about colonizing and exploiting other nations.
Ответитьit isn't true that the portuguese were the first to do anything, much less an empire; only a complete ignorant of history, or someone pursuing a dark agenda, could say something so foolish.
perhaps some dickhead brit with nothing to do living on wellfare, payed with the taxes of a foreigner! kiss my horse's ass, mate!
england breeds ignorants like these, no wonder so many brits come here to live among civilized people...
Nice
ОтветитьIt's always the Jews
ОтветитьWhat a bunch of crap. Yes, Portugal did expelled the jews, but they did everything to avoid that. They were forced by the Spanish King who forced the inquisition in Portugal. And they lost the territories in Asia exactly because they were no longer independent, since Spain was ruling the country. Spain basically grab all the navy from Portugal and destroyed it when facing the english.... that made impossible for Portugal to sail across the world to protect its possessions. Nothing to do with the jews in Holand. They just took advantage of the fact that they knew the routes and Portugal was not able to sail there anymore.
Basically, Spain lost the first Portuguese empire. Brazil only came later, and was part of the second empire. Being Africa the third empire.
Brazil never declared independence because there was no Brazilians to do that, they were all Portuguese. The first king of Brazil was in fact later crowned King of Portugal. He just didn't want to return to Portugal and decided to declared independence instead, and Portugal barely did anything about that since no one really cared. A few years later he returned to Portugal anyway and took the throne.
Yes, the king was killed but no one was discussing what to do for two years. The heir to the throne took the crown and ruled for two years. He was the last King of Portugal, but the monarchy was rotten, like every single monarchy ever, and he had to step down and the republic was declared.
You forgot to mention the earthquake of 1755, as well as the subsequent Tsunami and firestorms which led to the annihilation of many cities in Portugal, including Lisbon itself.
ОтветитьThe Jews went for the money 😂 Apparently the Jews were also employed by king William and taken to England to take care of the taxes
ОтветитьThanks for the excellent and entertaining historical summary.
ОтветитьPortugal didn’t fight the ottomans in 1578, they fought the moroccans and they lost, its called battle of alacer quibir
ОтветитьYou forgot how omanis kicked them out of muscat and india and eastern africa
ОтветитьF Portugal and all the colonial powers
ОтветитьPortugal send our gold back motherfuckers!! Brazil
ОтветитьPortugal is like the Marine Corps of colonial power.....first in,last out.
ОтветитьSurprised you went from monarchy to republic without mentioning the 50 year dictatorship and colonial war.
ОтветитьIt was not lost, it was willingly given away. Every single instance. Sure, 3 African colonies fought for independence, but it was granted peacefully after the fall of the Portuguese fascist dictatorship. Maybe lost the Indian settlements.
ОтветитьPortugal and Spain friends at that time? best joke of 2025. Nice anglocentric version of history you managed to invent
ОтветитьStupid ! They could have being producing their own peper !!! + they have Africa in the south!!! What stupid
