I bought a matte navy blue Tommy Hilfiger coat at my job that goes a little past my butt. I was going to return but this video just let me know I made a good decision 🥰

As a deep autumn SG, a straight black puffer is a no-no. As far as length, I tend to go mid shin (technically they look just below the knees in the pictures, but you know…SG life 😅). I really don’t care if I look shorter so long as I stay warm in the cold Polish autumn/winter months. I recently found some jewels in Guess puffer pieces, even with real down.

Aly😂😂The shorter puffers work well in warmer climates. We use them for fog and mist seasons where temps are around 15-18 degrees Celsius. Granted I do still prefer longer ones but you will not be freezing your butt. They are also great if you're on bikes for short distances if you layer well

I just bought a puffer for a trip to a cold climate. It is straight and below the knee with simple stitching. I wish the hood were removable, but the neck wraps up tight and acts like a scarf so that is a nice tradeoff. It is water resistant, so good for my UK winters. The only thing I dont like is the colour. It is a light grey/lilac and perhaps slightly shiny. But it was the warmest option I could find and the only coloir option that suited me (the other choice was brown, which i dont like or wear). I'm afriad it will get dirty easily, but the colour is compatible with my wardrobe at least. It was pretty affordable, so I will wear and enjoy it for the time being. It kept me super warm in below freezing temperatures on the trip!!!

Honestly, as a TR I struggled to find a puffer that suited me until I tried on the fur trimmed ones - it added the touch of glam I needed for a practical garment

I never ever ever thought I would be a puffer coat girl until I got my moncler Grenoble jacket … as a theatrical romantic the shape it creates on my silhouette makes me feel so glamorous while also keeping me warm ! ( it does freeze my butt though 😂)

Hi Aly, what is the brand of the puffer you show as the best option for most people? It's the photo of a woman wearing what looks like a soft black/dark gray long coat that hits her at mid-calf, she's wearing a black wool hat. Thank you!

I think this is a sign from god because I was genuinely looking for a winter jacket but needed some pointers to find the perfect. Now I just need some tips for normal jackets. I want to buy a shearlingjacket please help ❤

I was thinking that if I'm a gamine I can compensate my looks with bright colors in a puffer.
What's crazy is that a month ago I have bought a puffer that is exactly the way you said it should be ha-ha.
The fact that some people can wear a t-shirt and you will feel cold and wear a puffer is also a problem, sometimes I have to choose my clothing for autumn with the accomodation to how other people style themselves just so that I would not look obscure to them.

Interesting. I have a to the ankles puffer and it’s the coat I use for when I need to walk in brutal weather. It’s a pain for driving etc. and it so warm it can get hot. I got a more classic puffer in black. The hood does have fur and I think it protects when it’s a wetter snow and windy, nonetheless I did in fact take it off because it blocked my peripheral vision a bit. It’s actually not as easy to find a good puffer.

At 5' 2" and pear shaped straight puffas and added belts look awful on me. Waist length or 3/4 to knee length with a waisted shape look good. Wearing something that actually suits you is less dowdy than wearing fashion that doesn't.

I was thinking of getting one for casual outfits, but I don't like the straight way most puffers look enough to think it would be flattering on me without the curves. I love Ali's advice, but why in the world would a puffer that curves in at the waist be considered dowdy?

Does anyone else who’s curvy have trouble with puffer jackets?? I’ve never found one that’s narrow enough in the waist so there’s always a gap between me and the jacket there. My tummy always gets cold because of that 😭😂

I have had a matte grey puffer, ending just below my knees with belt for years. I love it when the weather is really cold. It has faux fur lining at the hood, which is quite big but I find that it protects my head well. I recently bought a beautiful ivory fit and flare puffer coat from italian brand Elisabetta Franchi. I love this puffer to death, I feel like a Russian Princess in it. I'm a theatrical romantic and the fitted shoulders and waist with the drapes at the bottom are really becoming and keep me super warm.

I just bought a puffer last week, and it looks exactly like the black one Aly recommended, except it's in beautiful teal colour.
Happy to see I've made a good choice!
I'm looking forward to keeping my butt nice & warm all winter ❄️

I respectfully disagree. I’m petite and the cinched waist looks way better. My head freezes without the fur trim on hood. No fur or fluff contradicts keeping warm

I live in Alaska and when its subzero, I adore a thick puffer that is parka style covering the majority of my body. When the elements are severe, down is my go to garment since they are easy to ventilated when you go indoors and are easy to store while seated in a restaurant or movie theater. Puffers are lightweight which is critical for long wearing periods. I have nearly every weight of puffer, length and pattern and it all depends on the activity in the cold. I I wear cashmere wool coats when I got to the symphony and fine arts events. I buy quality down coats that are functional and flattering. I will never give up my down coats. And, I do not own a poly filled puffer. Only good quality down. If you wear the higher rated down filled coats, you get more warmth with less bulk and weight. Plus, it is packable.
