Hope you all enjoy the film. It was great fun piecing it all together - many thanks to all those that helped. The first TVR I ever drove was a late Tuscan Convertible just like this one (on a group test in Germany on the roads around the Nurburgring as it happens) and all the memories from 20 years ago came flooding back as soon as I drove this car.
ОтветитьGot a Chim and that V8 sound OMG. Taking it out especially around the Lake Distict where I live is such an raw pleasurable experience which sadly has been lost in today's high tech cars with all the gadgets. Sure it will try to kill you (which it nearly did once) but respect it. TVR made such wonderful looking quirky cars. P.S I love annoying the neighbours when I warm ot up on a Sunday morning. They complain but I think they like it.
ОтветитьI have lamented the transition from printed automotive journalism to internet videos, but man this Hagerty content is just so consistently excellent on so many levels. Thank you!
ОтветитьCrikey, what a review. Henry really has a way with words. Wonderful.
ОтветитьCan’t wait for the Sagaris to be legal state-side. I’ve always wanted to see one in person.
ОтветитьSuper vlog. There's a minter H&M have for sale at the mo.
Ответить:-) haha! Henry, you should have asked a TVR owner to show you how to put the roof up properly.... ;-)
ОтветитьEvery possible box does this tick.
ОтветитьThis video made me fall in love with cars all over again. Thank you Mr. Catchpole.
ОтветитьIf it weren't for Gran Turismo wouldn't of heard of Tvr or skyline gtr big up's to the series
Ответитьyouve got to appriciate that they where one of the last manufacturers to make real sports cars. light and simple. supercars weighing 2 tons is ridiculous.
ОтветитьBeautiful, really enjoyed watching this. You've inspired me to make the pilgrimage to Blackpool, and look for some of these roads to enjoy. It will be good to return the cars to what is hallowed ground.
Ответитьwhat happened to the Griffith v8?
ОтветитьMr Catchpole is a simply sublime presenter, easily my favourite person to watch talk cars on here
ОтветитьI remember seeing the Tuscan speed six in ‘Swordfish’ and being in awe of its design aesthetic. Now 40 years old I own a Lotus Elise SC and absolutely love it. Yet I still crave to own a sorted Tuscan speed six one day for its raw power and British sports car heritage
ОтветитьOnce managed to blag a test drive on a Tamora. Same issue getting in the car and then getting out (no door handles). The Tamora was the "baby" TVR... Yet, one wide open throttle stretch later, all my chest hair had migrated to my back!
The car sounded intimidating and it revved fast. It felt almost dangerous. But a brisk cruise on a twisty little B road was heavenly... Still on my must have list, 20 years later...
What a gorgeous car. However, my dream car, which will never be, is a Tuscan R. I'd settle for the notchback though. <twist my arm>
ОтветитьFabulous film as ever Henry, bravo.
ОтветитьGorgeous film, thank you Henry!
ОтветитьI'm always surprised that tall men like Henry fit in these "small" British sportscars, then I remember that Peter Wheeler, like Gordon Murray, was actually a very, very tall man.
ОтветитьBloody hell Henry, don’t go telling everyone the secret, the prices will skyrocket.
Hand made little monsters, with more character than almost anything outside of 70/80’s Italy.
On future TVRs, don't mention the "E" word!!
No matter what they do with them, hopefully they keep building manual petrol cars! 😯😂🩲😀🤘🤞
Great video, beautiful car - but please don't try and pretend that's a race engine in any way, shape or form. It just had some fundamental flaws.
ОтветитьOne of the most beautiful cars I’ve ever seen in person. Wish someone big had mass produced this beauty.
ОтветитьI find that these cars are looking better and better to my eyes as time passes, maybe something to do with getting old, and how car design has been going the last few years - everything getting bigger/ taller / fatter....
ОтветитьI find these Herny Catchpole videos such a pleasure to watch)))
ОтветитьI wonder if TVR intentionally made it difficult to get out of their Tuscans?? Either way though they are beautiful with that lovely throaty six cylinder sound.
ОтветитьIs this the car from the movie "Swordfish"?
ОтветитьPeter Wheeler was the one responsible for the engines unreliability due to his horrendous cost cutting of Al Mellings original design. Wheeler was both the saint and the sinner that truly revitalised TVR but then also got up to some really bad shady stuff behind the scenes (stealing entire engines from customer cars in for servicing and then slotting them into `brand new` cars. Wheelers not paying suppliers being the reason he didn`t have engines in the first place!) Its a massive shame that TVR haven`t been a thing for 2 DECADES now, our roads are a quieter, more boring and bland place ever since.
ОтветитьGreat job Henry! I liked this a lot. 1 point that was missed but quite pertinent was the fact the speed six is and probably will always be the most powerful naturally aspirated straight 6 engine every. That's a bit of motoring history right there and should be lorded ! Especially if we are all going to try hawking our Tuscans to the Yanks. ; P
ОтветитьIs there a way to get this route on Google Maps/Earth in some way? I'd LOVE to have some guidance for the next time I'm in the UK
ОтветитьI still miss my Tuscan S which I bought new 22 years ago.. Luckily I still have the photos of the factory tour where I got to sign the bodywork of my car!
ОтветитьSo calm & soothing it was✨✨
ОтветитьI saw a reflex blue TVR Tuscan with a in Riverside California back in the early 2000’s as a small child. I was pretty surprised as i’d only ever seen one in Gran Turismo 3.
ОтветитьMotoring journalism at its finest. Definitely about the journey, narrated impeccably.
ОтветитьBought my Tuscan 5 years ago. Still can help but smile when I see it on the drive. Its a keeper.
ОтветитьHaving a cosworth engine... Nice burn towards bugatti
ОтветитьGreat to see Henry. Smashing example credit to the owner 👌
ОтветитьI can only imagine what 180mph feels like in a tvr😮
ОтветитьAlways loved them since Gran Turismo
ОтветитьWhat a wonderfully put together piece of film making. Superbly shot and the narration captivating. Fantastic effort. Best piece of motoring journalism I've seen for a while. Bravo!!
ОтветитьWhen a car looks better today than the day it was released…
ОтветитьGreat review as always and I love the widescreen format :)
ОтветитьJohn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1 Corinthians 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Ephesians 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Ephesians 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Bucket list car, the Tuscan. You'd feel the dog's driving it. I love the styling of the series 1; to me it is TVR's greatest hit. There's a rakishness and supremacy to it that instills in me a sense of British pride, much like a top of the line big block Corvette must've done for an American. I respect hugely Astons and Jaguars, but there's a blue collar savageness to a TVR that puts it in another league of acceptability for me.
ОтветитьWonderful. Proper car. Buy a couple of TVRs for the price of an EV. One will always work and you'll feel alive. They won't even lose a fortune like an EV
ОтветитьTVR should've used the test track at Lotus, by getting them to do the set-up work
ОтветитьThank you for the wonderful film. It brought back memories.
Had a Chimaera from 1999 to 2006. Crude and quirky in many ways but such a blast to drive. Replaced it with the marvellous 993 turbo X50. Quicker, refined and reliable, but not as much fun as the TVR (when on good behaviour). Still miss it.
