This is utter madness. You can't drill dowel holes freehand. There are excellent doweling jigs with end stops that automatically center the holes. YOU DON'T NEED TO MARK ANYTHING. You don't even need a pencil.

There's just something hilarious about speeding up hammer hits, it makes me laugh over and over.

You could also drill a small hole in the middle of an angle grinder wrench and use it for smaller projects. Works the same. You're welcome...😅

It had been a while since I last made a center marker, but when making one by hand, precision is key—you need to drill evenly spaced holes along a straight line, using a nail as the reference point.
To achieve that, I used a method where I rotated the jig 180° around the nail as a pivot before drilling.
I think the center marker itself turned out perfectly, but when I drilled the dowel holes, there was a slight misalignment—just barely within the acceptable margin. 👍
