i went to see this at the movies back in 80s its funny cause the plane looked futuristic back then but today it looks like something from 60s with all the new technology planes coming out and a Russian Captian that sounds like an american lol yea ok that would never fly but great movie with Clint Eastwood.

Plot twist...the gestapo guy from Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark was actually an escaped jewish scientist and now he works for the russians in this movie.

In reality it would have turned out to be a cheap copy of a plane the USA had already made and all russia could do was steal some secrets and then right royally screw it up, su57, the white swan and their crappy version of Concorde are just some that instantly spring to mind.

Never saw this movie before, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Hitman 2016's tutorial took inspiration from this scene. The setting and premise is very similar.

Such a faithful adaption of the Craig Thomas book. I really wish they would make a movie adaptation of Winter Hawk. Mitchell Gant just doesn't quit.

It's finny because moments after he stole that plane he was like "Wait, the built quality is awful. The technology is decades behind our own, why are we bothering to even steal this thing?"

To think a jet design like this is completely obsolete now - I remember how enthralled we all were at the time. If you loved the movie, the book is even better. There’s an ending in the book that Clint left out of the movie.

Interesting how as it turned out, the Russians suffered a 15 year tech lag even then. All balls and not much brains, both then and now.

When we watched it for the first time, we didn't even laugh, we laughed like horses... The authors have no idea how objects are guarded, and they also have no idea about the system of access to classified information in the USSR. And also - KGB officers could only wear such uniforms inside their own department. In other cases, they were either in civilian clothes or simply in the military uniform of tankers, infantry or pilots. Citizens of the USSR didn't even know what a KGB officer's uniform looked like:))) I lived in the USSR for 50 years... So I know what I'm talking about... And they hijacked a plane once - a MIG-25. A traitor from the Soviet officers hijacked it for two million dollars. He abandoned his family, his elderly parents...

I actually felt i was Clint whenever i slid my bicycle between a street post and a gutter, with but inches to clear my wheel on either side. It was my way of mimicking the way he flew the jet in between two cliffs! I was so thrilled back then each time I pulled it off! Now I feel really dumb having taken the risk! Well I was just 10 that time, so I guess I could cut myself some slack! 😁😁😁 But i really love this movie! 👍👍👍
