I trained in traditional Karate this was in the early 1970's first in Shotokan then Shorin Ryu this training is the best today they just do not train hard, it's all about the money they can make.

I used to trained Ketsugo Ju Jitsu my Shihan is in his late 60 still look young he always teaches us respect and discipline in the dojo

Basically both types of these commentators about kill or score purpose of roots of martial arts are partially right/wrong.
Martial "arts" have been depicted more with weapons then with bare hands (boxing and wrestling) in archeological artifacts. So we can say that people saying martial arts have been invented for killing are probably closer to truth. But both "systems" have been historically present.
People saying martial arts have been practiced for defending oneself are biased by modern time advertising. In the old times, armies exercised killing, not "defending" themselves, or if you like when defending themselves they strive to kill if possible. Scores have however been introduced as auxiliary method of exercising with swards covered with soft materials, so soldiers could practice with reduced hurting possibility, but without any doubt even score system had been Implemented in the shear service of direct preparation for KILLING in the very next battle.

Goju is not a joke. Never has been. The physical conditioning alone will end 90% of encounters before they begin. I started when I was 4. Being a goal tender in Lacrosse was a brilliant supplement to my kite. Took a Gold medal in that at the AAU Jr. Olympics.

Sanchin is very real, very healthy and very effective. I can’t tell you how many much larger dudes have tried to just Move my 5’7” body and simply failed to do so. It gives me the opportunity to be polite before enforcing deterrence, which I’ve seldom had to do. On those unfortunate occasions where I had to do something it was over in flash and hopefully they have chosen better paths in life. 🍻

Maybe they should practice more fighting. These kind of people were mowed down at the start of MMA, and they have never appeared since. When Karate fighters do have success, it's not by doing Karate but half-baked kickboxing.
