Belichick would be so bad, (like the Jets getting a 41 year old Aaron Rodgers to try and save them). The game has passed the point where he has the edge he used to, without Tom we saw him struggle the last few years tremendously and he left the Patriots in a terrible way. If you are going for a culture guy Vrabel is the option, but we should prioritise Caleb to try and give him stability for the next few years after the chaos of this year. 1.) Ben Johnson 2.) Thomas Brown 3.) Mike Vrabel

I don’t think Bill believes in Caleb. Is there any chance that Vrable gets/wants the OSU job?

Give me Ben Johnson or Aaron Glenn.

McCaskey wants to sell.. Warren is his guy. Any really good HC candidate is gonna know it and realize their tenure as Bears HC can be interrupted without warning. Their concern begins with how safe Poles is because if Poles is replaced in a year, the whole merry-go-round starts over. And then, even ‘that’ is replaced a year or two later when the team is sold. So where exactly is the long term stability?

Big fat no on Bill Belichick. He is too damn old. That is more than obvious. It would be such a 🐻 thing to do. Go out and get a man in his prime like every other winning football team to build a winning football team. Don’t overthink it.

With the advancements in chemical technology Bill should have no problems handling it.
Wasn't Johnson at Boston College too?

Belichick is the only option in my mind. We need someone with a big enough presence and resume to get the level of control one needs to straighten things out. I doubt Belichick would take the job. He's been around long enough to know what an undertaking it would be to coach in Chicago. I really feel we're screwed until there is new ownership. This organization is such a mess that most coaches out there will predictably fail...and the 3 year cycle will begin again.

The national media doesn't understand the role ownership plays for the Bears. The McCaskey's hide behind Warren and Poles, while forcing them to get approval for everything they want to do outside the salary cap. You think Warren doesn't want to build a stadium on the property the Bears already own in Arlington Heights? You think Eberflus was really Poles first choice in 2022? You think Poles wouldn't have fired Eberflus for Harbaugh after last season? Don't kid yourself, it's not about football results for the McCaskey's, it's about financial results. The Bears are the McCaskey's only income stream. The reason Friday happened the way it did was because Warren and Poles had to convince the McCaskey's that they needed to pay Flus to go away. The only reason they were able to was because of the embarrassment of the media reporting about the mutiny in the locker room after the game!

Here is the deal the Bears are going to have to pay for this next head coach and I mean pay, at least $15M a year. No one is going to take it for less nor should they. They might have to make this coach the highest in the league. Now we know they are cheap but they have the money here for that, for a stadium that’s a no but for top players and a coach they do, all teams do with the network money. For the right to coach Caleb it’s going to cost them big time.

Guys, pump the breaks on "BEN JOHNSON". Please help me out my Cubs fans. We took the Brewers managers but weren't allowed the coaches, which affected Counsel. Do you think the Lions will let him take the best coaches without promoting them first? So, unless he brings his preferred coaches, we are looking at potentially another Counsel having to work with people he don't know or trust.

I don't think the structure is all that prohibitive.. Ryan Poles was in KC with Andy Reid and he has power on the roster. Poles is used to it. As long as the Bears structure is how they say.. HC to GM, GM to PRES., PRES to Owner with football ops in the GM hands, I think it's pretty good as long as there's no power struggle or owner meddling.

Harbaugh was the guy but the cheap McCaskeys said no. Stayed in house for major savings and look what happened totally screwed the team and the fans. Now you’ve got Vrabel out there another guy players respect and can at least make solid in game decisions. But Bears will never pay for him or Ben Johnson. Same old same old. Cheap leeches living off of inherited wealth who don’t give a damn about winning.

I'm sorry, but all of this Ben Johnson love is completely overblown in my mind. He has perhaps the most talented offense in the NFL and to me it's not even a perhaps. He has an amazing receiver and tight end core. He has one of the best 1-2 punches in the backfield that has ever been put on the field. He also has a very solid defense that doesn't give up 35 points a game. Not to mention he has one of, if not the, best offensive lines in the game. Just because he hasn't screwed that up doesn't mean he's some brilliant offensive mind. Furthermore, we would be bringing him in to manage the culture and set expectations for a team and he has never done that in the NFL. He is not coming in to be the offensive coordinator, he is coming in to be the head coach. I think he could be that guy and do those things but the task is completely different. Think about Eberflus for a moment. He called, for the most part, a great game defensively. For the past two years we have been crediting him with the defensive turnaround after the first few games last year and his ability to be a defensive coordinator. How was he as a head coach? Absolute garbage. They are different jobs entirely and to believe that being a great offensive coordinator with the most talented offense in the NFL means you will be a great head coach is a hell of a leap.

I will forever point to the fact that the Bears did not go after Jim Harbaugh as the single biggest reason this season and probably future seasons with Caleb Williams as the quarterback will be less than they could have been. Harbaugh is a former quarterback who knows everything that you need to know about navigating your way through as a professional. That is an invaluable resource that he brings to a rookie quarterback and he brings that resource while also being a top-tier NFL head coach. It is a despicable oversight by the Bears front office that they did not fire Eberflus and bring in Jim Harbaugh.
