What about the new 'Retro VGS' that has been announced? It's a new system in a retro style which means it play cartridges. There are talks of physical cartridge copies of Shovel Knight, Retro City Rampage and Pier Solar for it. I'm excited for the Kickstarter this summer.
ОтветитьYeah that thing sounds way awesome, but I just love the feel of a real Turbo Pad in my hands. The TG16 was like the bad ass of the consoles. Somehow I always felt like I was breaking the law while playing it.
ОтветитьYo! I want this thing! I have a retron5 and I really like it but it doesn't read every game you put into it. Hopefully, this one will.
ОтветитьI've never understood the point of these machines. Why put extra wear and tear on your cartridges if you're just going to play the game through an emulator anyway? If what you want is convenience then just get a small HTPC and run the emulators from a nice front end like EmulationStation.
Not only would it be easier and cheaper, but it would also be capable of doing more like watching TV shows or movies.
Pc Engine,Turbografx and Supergrafx?! I'm sold!
ОтветитьDefinitely interesting but the PC Engine Library is lacking without the CD games.
ОтветитьMany aftermarket consoles haven't even reached 95% compatibility with its gaming library. As an example: the FC Twin can't emulate Castlevania 3 that well. Hence I'm not really anticipating any aftermarket gaming devices.
ОтветитьI just don't see the point of a console that runs on emulation and takes original cartridges.
Like, I ABSOLUTELY see the appeal of running on original hardware, because emulation is never 100% accurate and there can be compatibility issues or input lag that the original hardware didn't have or all other minor issues that make it just not QUITE the same as the original experience. And I understand the desire to collect the real games, I mean I do that too so clearly I get it.
But when it's a console that takes original cartridges but runs under emulation, I'm getting the same not-quite-accurate emulation experience with all the high cartridge prices of playing on original hardware. Yay?
i dont think ive seen your setup in videos before but i assumed youd have everything laid out like some sort of retro gamers heaven. i have a small 20" lcdtv set out for playing retro games. its not the best but you really cant play them on larger tvs, they look terrible lol
ОтветитьYou have to attach your Game Boy Player to your Gamecube? Why haven't you already permenently attached it to the cube in the first place?
ОтветитьBut does it have Blast Processing?
ОтветитьDamn, this could very well get me into collecting some pc engine.
ОтветитьWhy no N64 ? there's almost every Nintendo cartridge-based system included there
ОтветитьI love these kind of things. I have all sorts of older systems but for everyday playing I prefer things like this or emulators. It's just so much more relaxing to come home after work and be able to turn something on and get right to it. Original hardware is always cool but it's nice to have stuff like this around as well. Now they just need a cd drive so we can get all the systems that used those.
ОтветитьMeh, tell me when someone makes a console that can play ps1, ps2, xbox, dreamcast, saturn etc.
ОтветитьTHE LORD OF THE CONSOLES...THE ONE CONSOLE TO RULE THEM ALL...Hahahaha!Good one.
ОтветитьI'm still waiting for an 'all-in-one' retro system that supports N64.
Ответитьim steal waiting for a retro console to play neo geo, (not the shit of neo geo x gold) playstation one, gamecube, and sega saturn also why any of this retro console cant play n64 games, for the flashback i love to see an atari jaguar or a neo geo pocket
ОтветитьThat looks awesome! I finally took the plunge and picked up a PC Engine Duo R after your videos got me addicted to Turbo collecting. It's great to see a retro inspired console that keeps the PC Engine alive!
ОтветитьHeck yeah! Thanx I did not know =)
ОтветитьThe top machine is the only thing that really makes this much different than a PC running emulators. You could hack something together that would get most of this done. But this is a nice clean looking way to get all that done. I can see the appeal.
ОтветитьPersonally, I don't see any difference between all these retro multi consoles and a just using a emulator on whatever device you fancy.
ОтветитьIf they can put N64 it will good
ОтветитьIt will be good if we can put arcade game in it
ОтветитьWhat I was really interested is also the ability to play TG16 games, but just like retron 5, it probably doesn' work with flash carts since the system load the game before playing it. That's a bummer, using your original games is the obvious option, but TG16 games are expensive, so if I could use the flash carts I would to preserve the originals. Regardless, I'm excited.
Ответитьkonichiwa!
ОтветитьI wish the GameCube had component
Ответитьdo you people know if you can install a game from a pendrive? or if this thing will have a digital store? I don't like the idea of dealing with old cartridges
ОтветитьI assume PCE\TG-16 CD-ROM games are ISO files that you put into the machine along with ROM files,
as there does not seem to be a CD-ROM drive.
The Retro Freak launching in Oktober 2015 in Japan and cost between 20000yen and 23000yen. Greetings from Japan
Ответитьavailable on preorder www.play-asia(dot)com/retro-freak-standard/13/708vvt
Ответитьcheck it out on play Asia as they say it drops October 2k15, i've held off from buying the retron 5 n the sr3 because i want to be able to play my tg-16 pce games in HD n this console definitely seems to have all the bells and whistles, n it's coming in two flavors regular n premium
ОтветитьI play all my retro games on my Wii thanks to the Virtual Console service.
Ответитьthis sounds so freaking cool ^_^
I hope it comes out for people to buy in the future
I am looking for an affordable console that can play original Famicom games on it. I don't need the Retron 5 as I have a Retro Trio and the NEXT is to pricey at this time. Any advice?
ОтветитьActually this is coming out in late October of this year. Went to the retro freak website and it is going to have a language option for English and Japanese as well.
Ответитьyou can buy it from play asia it go for $169.99
ОтветитьNintendolife dot com reports that this machine started last Saturday (31'st of October)
ОтветитьWhy it is so hard to find technical specs of this console? is it an FPGA console, or is it another android based machine with emulators?
ОтветитьI'm actually for once considering it just cause the turbo games and PC engine. Thing is I prefer my original hardware and I have them all hooked up though scart rgb. They are all capable of. looking amazing on you TV right out of the box. You just buy a rgb scary cable and then a scart to hdmi. I swear to god it looks better then Xbox live HD downloads.
ОтветитьI do like this though because with PC engine it's harder to get rgb cause it's not native. although there is a guy who make boxes that will upconvert it on eBay. also does not look bad if you have composition.
Ответитьdoes it have RGB out?
Ответитьdid you get the retrofreak?
ОтветитьIt's released now with a gamegear/Master system/Mkiii adapter coming soon
ОтветитьIt’s great Johnny. My friend has it and it’s amazing
ОтветитьNow here's a channel I haven't watched in years. Thanks for the review mate.
Ответитьthis system was sellers on any sites in internet, for any kind of system,i see one for NES and SNES,and i see for Atari 2600
ОтветитьNow that the polymega exists, what do you think about it?
ОтветитьI missed this low price but now expensive.
