ОтветитьAwesome video! Thanks!
ОтветитьHow do you feel about linseed oil as a topcoat?
ОтветитьExcellent!
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьThanks for the video, it gave me an idea on how to do the little project I have. Cheers.
ОтветитьIs Arm R Seal Considerably better than Miniwax? Especially for furniture or for something that will be outside in the elements?
ОтветитьThank you! very informative video, was head scratching at homedepot hah.
ОтветитьThank you for the great advice—Good Job!
ОтветитьLove that tip about proper disposal,of oily rags, thanks!!!
ОтветитьBy “prestain conditioner” you mean mineral oil, right?
ОтветитьMy mother always applied mayonnaise or petroleum jelly to those rings left by drinks. Once it set for awhile, she wiped it off and it was good as new.
ОтветитьYou aren't applying the pre stain properly. Apply across the grain, let it sit a couple of minutes, wipe of the excess with the grain then let it dry for 20 minutes or so before applying stain.
ОтветитьWhat do you think of using penetrating oil (e.g., Bona Craft Oil 2K) instead of stain on unfinished wood? Will it be a better choice than stain? Thanks!
ОтветитьThank you very much!
ОтветитьI followed the directions and sanded my table and I used pre stain conditioner. However after I applied 2 coats of stain (I waited 12 hours b4 applying a second coat) I get patches that feel a bit sticky. Can I still apply a top coat of poly? The stain has been drying for 36 hours already
Ответитьahh i didnt stain it looks so blotchy
ОтветитьGood for outside? Will that not be weather affected, especially oiled layer on the porous and breathable wood?
ОтветитьThank you for the heads up on disposal!
ОтветитьGreat health and safety was mentioned! Very helpful thanks!
ОтветитьGood explanation. Question: what do you do if your stain is sticky after two days?
ОтветитьAppreciate the time you put into this video. Thanks for the informative tutorial.
ОтветитьNot sure it’s been asked but what color stain did you use in the comparison?
ОтветитьVery helpful ty
ОтветитьHi, should I still pre stain/sand paper if staining with Milk paint dark tung oil? Great video, very informative!
ОтветитьI always just throw my rags out on the yard over night basically and then put them in the outside trash bin once dry.
ОтветитьThe first time i stained something again as an adult, i forgot the wipe off step and it really did leave a gross finish. I was able to re-wet it. I forget if i just did another coat and made sure to rewipe it or used a thinner. It was shelves going on a bedroom closet with a door, so, it ended up looking ok, but since then i never forget the wiping step!
ОтветитьIs there a way to use oil top coat but not have it so glossy, more matte?
ОтветитьWhich wood stain did you use ? Water based or oil based? And which brand , please let me know
ОтветитьThis is very helpful, and thanks for the advice on oily rags! Would you recommend a light sanding after the third and final top coat?
ОтветитьWhat about planes and scrapers instead of sanding?
ОтветитьWhat color of stain did you use?
ОтветитьI have that same pencil. Works great for .3mm graphite and precise drawings
ОтветитьWhich finish/top coat should I use for a floor transition piece I'm staining. It will be walked on and occasionally mopped. This is my first time ever doing a staining project.
ОтветитьYour channel has become a part of my routine.
ОтветитьWould you use pre-stain on an outdoor deck?
ОтветитьGreat video with simple explanations for each step now my wife can even help stain 😊
ОтветитьYou can let stain set until you see any part starting to dry. You get a darker look and more grain will be seen.
ОтветитьDo you have videos on staining a pine door from Home Depot
Ответитьso a waterbase finish can go over stain? its not like oil and latex paint?
ОтветитьLove your tip of pencil marking to know when to progress to the finer sandpaper. I usually sand twice as long as needed, or at least it seems like it. Once in awhile I have moved to finer paper too soon and then it shows up in the stain. My eyes aren't good enough to tell by looking at the wood while I sand.
Ответитьsanding a "necessary evil"? lol do people really not like sanding? I love sanding! I find it meditative, almost therapeutic, they way it refines and erases blemishes, inconsistencies, mistakes, etc. it brings everything together, it's very dharmic like that.
ОтветитьI don't understand. 100 then 220 then 150 then 180? that does not sound gradual to me.
ОтветитьWhen using the general finish oil based product can i dry it faster leaving it out in the sun or should i wait 12-24 to dry ??
Ответитьi have new handrails installed in my house. i stained and poly'ed the rails before they were installed. they came out great. however, they were installed with wall rosettes that were not stained. any tips on how to stain just the wall rosette at the ends of the handrails? my concern is that a rag won't get stain into the tight area where the rail connects to the rosette. but using something smaller like a tiny paintbrush or q-tip might leave dried stain before i hit it with the rag, thus leaving diff degrees of stain darkness. thanks.!
Ответитьwhat a great video. you're a wood working scientist!
ОтветитьDid anyone else realize this is exactly like painting your nails? No? Just me?
Ответитьdespite my name i am absolutely not a carpenter but this is exactly the kind of informative content I wanted. 10/10.
ОтветитьI got my stain following your direcciones,?it’s beautiful. I wish I could send you a photo
