Yes. Pls do the removal of the power down feed control. I managed to snap a tap in mine cleaning up the thread so now I need to disassemble the whole thing to fix it.
ОтветитьI can almost hear the Millennials freaking out at the lack of gloves used for your tear-downs. BTW, thanks for posting them. VERY helpful!
ОтветитьLook forward to seeing the removal of the feed worn shaft / reverse clutch rod. If that are my only repairs, I imagine I can skip much of this?
ОтветитьThis is when you know wtf you are doing.... You just chuck the parts in a basket for cleaning! Good demo tearing this thing down. Thank you!
ОтветитьGreat video, thank you! I am anxious for the next step as I have a problem with my quail feed forward reverse lever that sticks out of the front. It’s stuck in down and will not up-feed. Do you have a plan for a video describing disassembly and repair? Thanks again. 👍🏽
ОтветитьIf the power down feed doesn't work do you know what usually is the problem?
ОтветитьWell done Sir and only in 16 minutes and 38 seconds. New subscriber I like your channel and have you book marked should I need any parts.
ОтветитьCan you please put out a reassembly video :-)
ОтветитьBridgeport is a complicated marvel. And to think, engineers drafted all the mechanicals out with sliderules and pencils. Also, I have witnessed a number of very good mechanics struggle with the repair manuals over the 45 years I was a machinist. These videos are a true blessing for future mechanics.
ОтветитьEasy fix, thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьThank's for the video, was grate, may Bridgeport B is 1 1/2 hp this one has a problem where the quill is not smooth as it rides up and down, what might be the problem? I'm about to disassemble it going by your video, is there a assembly video for the quill? Do you think I have to disassemble the hole to and quill to free it up. This machine was stored for some time and got wet.
Thanks for your inputs and if you have the time for the assembly video
Berry, at the end of this video you indicated there would be another covering the auto feed direction shaft and I hope all the related stuff in there. Do you still plan to do such a video? Thanks
Ответитьamazingly helpful.
ОтветитьMy reverse trip ball lever is snapped off; I have managed to remove the threaded end, but do you have any advice on extracting the other half?
Ответитьplease make one foe re-assembly thank you for you awesome videos
ОтветитьI dont have that magnet, and that damned ball is stuck. What magnet should i buy to get it? And what if the mag doesnt do the trick?
ОтветитьHi Barry, your videos and explanation are perfect!!! I have a Bridgeport Mill. and the quill nose nut is jam any tips, how to get this out? Thank you for your help!
ОтветитьYet another awesome video! I wish I knew half of what you have forgotten!
Can you tell me if this level of breakdown is required to replace quill spindle bearings or can that be done by just removing top housing and front parts?
Is this procedure similar to the seiresII-4J quill removal? Love the videos!!!
ОтветитьI’m running a cnc on my Bridgeport would you remove the clock spring so the cnc isn’t fighting against it?
ОтветитьWhat do you do when the little ball does not come out and when only one balls comes out with the 5-40 screw and the broken off part stays in the hole.
ОтветитьGreat video, I’ll be watching all your videos on this mill, I’m currently do the same with my 1978. I posted the disassembly & painting video. Not sure how far I’ll go on the quill
ОтветитьMuchas gracias, me ayudó mucho este video!
ОтветитьGreetings, are the allen keys in millimeters or inches? Thanks.
Ответитьsometimes it is easy ... sometimes it is not !
ОтветитьBarry and everyone at H&W machine repair, you guys are doing a great service to society by posting this videos, thank you
ОтветитьCan you remove the spindle assembly without dismanting the gear assembly just out of interest. Ive got some areas on my machine that need attention, bearings been just one of them which I'm looking to sort over winter. All the best Alex
ОтветитьI am cleaning a 1978 BP Mill I just got. In htis video you are removing the cover on the power feed control and mentioned the small screw being removed and behind it is a small spring and ball. I got that far and then couldn't get the ball out. I have a fairly strong magnet that fits in the hole, but does not grab the ball. I have soaked the shaft and ball in engine cleaner and nothing. Still stuck in there. Anybody have a suggestion?
Bob
On the part 1033-03 if it is broke like you say they often are how is best to remove the broken bit left in ?
ОтветитьHello, thank you for the super thorough videos and awesome diagrams on your website. I just picked up a 2hp vari-speed machine, early 80's vintage and the quill sticks in the housing at various points of travel. The whole machine was thoroughly crusted with dried out oil and I have been trying to spray the thing down with LPS #2 in the hope of getting the crust loosened up, which has been working pretty good.
One thing I have noticed is that the quill skirt is chewed up right where the quill stop hits the edge of the part and I suspect that this is binding up in the casting. Is there anything else in particular I should look for that may be causing the binding?
I have the H&W overhaul manual, and the sequence of takedown is almost completely opposite of this. The way it's shown in this video is better.
Ответитьappriciated your skill
ОтветитьExcelente
ОтветитьDude is a genius, remembers the part number and knows each and every single screw name, location and it’s purpose. Excellent video.
ОтветитьI lost my 1402-Steel Ball. Can I find the diameter in the parts list??
ОтветитьThe ball bearing in the feed trip assembly is jammed in there pretty solid and I have no magnet. Any ideas on how to get it out?
ОтветитьThese videos made by H&M with Barry are without doubt some of the most important pieces of guidance on the entire internet for anyone who owns a Bridgeport or any older type machine. Simple explanation and demonstration step by step. Priceless free tuition! Thanks Guys - Awesome job!
ОтветитьWasn't for his videos, I'd have to had junked my J head.
ОтветитьApakah saya bisa beli Quill kirt?
ОтветитьRetired from a small shop three months ago, got a call today from them their biggest Bridgeport quit working. Going in Monday morning just like I used to, hoping this series of videos will help.
Thanks!
Thank you guys!!!
Ответитьquill skirt. i think thats what it may be...
only here cus i wanted to see if a bridgeport has some way of adjusting the sliding fit of that quill... i havent got a bridgeport, just a fancy drill press advertised as a mill... and the quill to housing fit leaves MUCH to be desired.
i was hoping id find bridgeports run something like split conical bushes on tapered seats or something, so you can snug em up tight... but it doesnt look like it, just that... quill skirt.
anyway, i still think its a worthwhile mod to a horrid little mill that has to make do until i happen across a decent BP or clone of...
man. when you look at teh design of these machines, you gotta remind yourself... this was all in BC... before computers. everything drawn by hand, visualised inside heads, and transferred to raw stock... like most anything prior to the 80s...
Im needing to pull the quill will i have to do the whole disassembly process to do so?
ОтветитьWOW I got a 1954 round ram power downed never worked from the day I traded for it maybe I'll watch this video a couple hundred more times and tackle it someday
Ответитьdud, ok, so Im gonna fix my z feed , i so got this, thanks ,, this is gold ,
Ответитьtoujours un plaisir de vous voir démonter cette fraiseuse. cela m'a beaucoup aidé. merci beaucoup..
ОтветитьJe le regarde pour la 7eme fois.
ОтветитьI am trying to pull the fine quill adjustment collar off and cannot get this darn ball out. I see your magnet trick and it does not appear to want to work for me. Any further advise?
