Hey ya Simon. Just watching this vid and love your work. I had a go at rabbits a couple weeks ago, it was dusk getting dark so light was an issue. I totally get how twitchy they really are. I had loads of bluebells infront which worked in my favour for cover. I only have a 300mm so had to get quite close maybe 4 meters away I got and my god they are so on edge constantly. Great video with great information 👍

Find some rabbit dropping, set up overlooking that area.

Optionally, drop a few oats.

Great video Simon I’m photographing rabbits atm . Thought I’d give them a lot of my time as they are such decline by a horrible disease . Will be such a shame to lose them in our countryside.

Hey Simon,
Good to catch up again mate, and great news, our Stage 4 local restrictions have been lifted slightly and we are now allowed to go hiking and fishing, woohoo, I'm back out the bush photographing birds. Anyway, i watched your latest video with interest, I hate friggin' rabbits and I wouldn't waste the click of a shutter on one of the mongrels and if you want about 35billion of them, you're lot brought them 'DownUnder' a couple of hundred years ago because they were lonely for bunny-pie. Anyway, I always watch all of your videos because there is always a snippet ot two of valuable info in there for those who listen! I was very interested in your 'lightweight' hiking boots and I clicked onto the site that you listed, lo and behold, they offer 300 pairs of boots listed as lightweight, any chance that you could narrow it down a bit for us please? Keep up the great work mate and I'll see you out there. . .
Bruce

Nice one Simon. Good tips and nice shots there. Will need to give this a try when Nicola lets us out into the country again ! One question for you: lying down in longish grass creates a high risk of picking up ticks and the danger of Lyme disease - any tips for protecting yourself other than simply covering up completely?

As a youngster I dreamed of watching badgers whilst I was out in the field ferreting rabbits. Rabbits were as common as muck and badgers quite scarce. Now it's the other way around. These days spotting a rabbit is a noteworthy event... least ways round here it is.
Good video, sound advice and some very nice images.

Great stuff, Simon and perfectly timed for me. The last few evenings I have been walking out to a farmer’s field about 200m from my house to try and photograph a fox, which I saw recently. While waiting for the fox, which didn’t show up, I have been photographing rabbits and have learned a lot about their behaviour by just observing them. 👍🏻

Rabbits are skittish certainly had more luck with hares. Wait outside their warrens early and late. I did get 5 out the other day. Only had to blink and they were out of sight. Good tips thanks for the video
