The so called redbrick universities are among the most prestigious institutions in the UK and in the QS ranking with entry qualifications very similar to those for Oxford and Cambridge. The High Flyers' annual report by the 100 top employers in the UK places several redbrick universities above both Oxford and Cambridge graduates for the capabilities of their graduates. These are the Universities of Leeds, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Warwick, Nottingham and Sheffield. Along with Oxford & Cambridge, all the above universities are members of the UK's elite Russell Group of universities. They are all in the QS top hundred universities in the world (out of 27,000 universities globally) . Also, check out the QS world employment rankings for how sought after these graduates are by global employers. For example the University of Bristol is 55 in the world academic table but 49 in the QS employability rankings. The University of Leeds is 75 in the world academic rankings but 51 in the QS global employment rankings. These employment rankings are probably even more important than the academic rankings.
