THE NEGLECTED ROAD PROJECT.. Mindanao Avenue Extension Road Project

The Mindanao Avenue Extension Road Project is a major infrastructure development aimed at easing traffic congestion in Northern Metro Manila, specifically between Quezon City, Valenzuela City, and Caloocan. This project extends Mindanao Avenue from the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Valenzuela to General Luis Street in Caloocan. The completion of the project has been a long process, with construction dating back to the 1980s, but it was delayed due to issues with the right of way (ROW).

As of September 2024, the road is now open to light vehicles, providing much-needed relief to motorists who regularly travel through the highly congested areas of Novaliches and Valenzuela. Trucks and street vendors are not allowed on the newly opened section to maintain smooth traffic flow. The extension is designed to decongest key routes like General Luis Street, providing alternate access to areas like Quezon City and NLEX.

Efforts to complete the project were accelerated under the "Build Better More" program, and the last remaining ROW issues were addressed with the relocation of affected residents and the demolition of structures along the ROW
