Simple Bushcraft, Winter Dayhike With CRKT Hammer Chogan, UCO Grill, EDC Rucksack,

Working on a fun, simple way to bring viewers along when I test new gear on the average get out of the house hike. I hope to inspire others to get outside on a simple hike, practice some skills and enjoy some fresh air. Building a solo off grid cabin out of sticks with water park optional :)

Today I am testing the CRKT Hammer Chogan, looking for Some Fatwood, dry kindling and tinder to start a small camp fire. Along the way I find some wild edibles to forage for a little hot tea. I show some tracking and animal sign. I will also demonstrate simple uses for the tomahawk. The Hidden Woodsmen EDC Rucksack comes in handy to carry the gear and supplies collected along the way.
The UCO flatpack Grill Is a great way to make a fire on the go when you don't want the fire directly on the ground. This can be advantageous for many reasons, in this case it keeps the moisture and cold away from the already damp tinder and firewood we have. This gives us the best chance for a quick lighting fire.
In the winter I like to carry a lighter, I prefer the Exotac Titan as it is not affected by the cold like butane is and the flame is instant and sustainable. Not necessary but very convenient as a first option if time is ever pressing (hypothermia situation). Lots of tubers like to use the more cinematic fire lighting methods but to be honest after you wear out a half dozen ferro rods and a few rocks it becomes redundant to show every time.
