Your van looks great for you! My boys are working on a 2013 transit con. for me right now! In my younger days, I loved backpacking, so the size of my van feels like it'll be great. I'd add an air vent or two... those lowered windows using the rain guards make breaking those windows 10 times easier to bust open- less than one second. You'd instantly be trapped by a robber.
Safer is better.

I realize you're not van lifing full-time , but I appreciate the simpler builds. I never understand investing so much money into something that will eventually need to be replaced. There are various reasons for van life. For me, less is more. Keep it clean and comfortable.

If ya wanna lean back in your seats....the storage boxes could be put on hinges that turned towards your floor while you were driving. 👍🏻
