Great video Erik. I hav´nt been watching whiskey vids for a while but when I do I always enjoy your content. I found PX Cask to be my favorite Laphroaig. I live in Finland and I got some PX from a ship going to Estonia. I got 6 litre bottles for 63€ a pop. I was eating very low carb and carnivore for a while. Tasting PX cask in ketosis was fantastic. Whiskey tasted so differant and sweet I could´nt believe it. Lore was not half as good. I paid 99€ for a 0,7 litre Lore ,and in my mouth, not worth it at all. I have to tune in and watch your Ardbeg Distillery video in a few days. Ardbeg is my favorite. All the best Erik and thanks .

Ohh yes this is one of my favorites its almost smoked cherries and dark fruits very nice. It is costly however but I think its worth it. Great review mate

I'm interested in how you would compare the Laphroaig 10 Sherry Oak to Talisker Distillers Edition and Ardbeg Uigeadail. Is there any chance you'd do a comparison? I have them together on my shelf, along with the standard bottlings of Laphroaig 10, Ardbeg 10, and Talisker 10. I enjoy the sherry sweetness added to the peat and I enjoy the standard 10-year-olds as well. And yes I also have the Port Charlotte and Lagavulin 16 on my shelf. Thank you!

I thought this came off as a muted, toned down Uigeadail.

Thanks Erik for the review 🤗
I've been checking this out for a couple of years, but haven't pulled the trigger, until our liquer stores got 240 bottles that you had too book. But these got sold in just around 90 seconds. At $74 USD I tried to get it, but ended up on a waiting list. So if someone doesn't pick up their bottle, it goes to the next in queue.

I wasn’t overly impressed when I first opened the Sherry cask but it definitely got better over time. Saving my dusty 18 for the right occasion that will be a lovely day me thinks 🥃 Nice review

I agree with you Erik. I'd give it a good 86 though. Enjoyed my first bottle and bought a second which is where the doubts set in. I do that a lot. Too much noise with this and not enough delivery and I'm afraid that is too often the case with Laphroaig's distillery releases these days. It's tasty stuff but short of what I want from this great distillery.

The regular stuff tastes like a smoky bandaid. I don't like heavy peat though.

C
Keep guessing , your way out it’s full of flavour from the waters from the peat …😄

This was my Whisky of the Year 2021 and I voted on the OSWA as such. It walks a tightrope between peat & sherry + spirit & cask with an elan seldom found in accessible malts. Seeing the lukewarm reviews makes me think there could be significant bottle variation at play.

I've had the Laphroaig 10 (43%), Lore and the 10 Cask Strength.... the 10 CS is my favorite.

This stuff definitely did not have me at “hello”. Drinking the first dram was disappointing. Weird nose and taste, as if the peat and were fighting each other…unharmonious, not integrated, muted. But by the 3rd pour I was loving it. Whether I moved toward the whisky or whether it opened up and moved towards me, I’m not sure.
