I like the book.
Ответитьi tho this movie was about zombies ....
ОтветитьI have not read the book (my lit professor is an expert on the writer, though, so I have a degree of context of who J. M. Coetzee is), but I was very impressed with this film. I liked the way in which the filmmakers refused to sentimentalise the characters- especially the interesting, complex David- and allowed for genuine ambiguity in the narrative, as well, refusing to judge the characters for their decisions.
Ответить@Alexsteen lol thats sick, and I think you just ruined the plot for me... not sure tho.
Ответитьafter seeing this movie, i would never trust a native black african again. i know this sounds racist but the move portrayed them so badly.
Ответить@agmor1 Interesting comment re sentimentalise, but I found Malkovich's character somewhat too detached emotionally. And his daughter was so matter-of-fact in deciding to keep her pregnancy when most would problably opt not to.
Ответитьyou sound very childish like JJ's book is the only one you read've to compare... and "good endin' " does not always indicate the level of the material
Ответить@Karwanel I respect your opinion, but I think differently. If it is taking you 30 hours to finish a book the size of 'Disgrace', then maybe you should be analysing and reading other material. And just because Joyce and the rest of the European 'pioneers' began their literary careers well before our time does not mean that we cannot have pioneers in the modern day. How many texts have you read that address both the issues of post-apartheid South Africa and an analysis of the nature of man?
ОтветитьI am sorry to learn that illiterates specialize in literature; kind of oxymoronic...
Ответить@oxygene6661988 apparently you skipped through the first half of the story, since you claim to not trust native black africans but take no similar offence against white university professors; how much less of a rapist the main character was compared to the evil native africans? after all, this is the point of the book, isn't it?
ОтветитьThe intent of the book is not to shock. But that happened when it was turned into a movie. The two greatest tensions in the book are the sexual ones and the rule of law and due process. Unfortunatelly, the movie disconsidered this
ОтветитьSuch a great film.
ОтветитьHis accent was great in this!
Ответитьfirst impression is that it looks like a great film - if I hadn't read the book beforehand. Unfortunately, I can't see how honestly and effectively the novel can be adapted into film.
ОтветитьI like the book, looking forward to seeing the film!
ОтветитьI really enjoyed the book. I look forward to seeing this movie someday. I wonder which I will like better.
ОтветитьCoetzee is a genius - the book is so brilliant but the film is shit
ОтветитьI read the book and so excited to see that its movie is made. However, in the book the daughter is overweight and not in the trailer. Do people have a problem with an overweight person starring in a movie!!? Even in an arthouse movie!?
ОтветитьI like it.
ОтветитьI like it.
ОтветитьI like it.
Ответитьbad choice of actor
ОтветитьThis was a good movie. I read the book and watched the film at the cinema when it was released. It is awesome when you read a book and imagine it a certain way and then the film depicts it just like that.
Ответитьterrific plot..<3
ОтветитьOh no really odd choice of actors his daughter in the book is a curvy women and why choose such a light skinned actress 💁🏽♀️
Ответитьver y go d
ОтветитьWhat a stupid ass movie. Complete waste of time.
ОтветитьThey showed full story in trailer 😂
ОтветитьLooks like kak but might try it
ОтветитьWhats the book name
ОтветитьBad David actor choice, he is a good actor, but a bad choice for the role
ОтветитьBook was great!!!
ОтветитьSpoilers ahead:
Why does his daughter behave that way? It seems eventually they will kill her. She does not find peace, she just accepts her fate without fighting. She lives in fear like a slave. Her father can do nothing but watch the slow destruction of his daughter. How horrible.
I m here after reading disgrace by j m Coetzee
ОтветитьJust watched the movie with Malkovich. With each stupid, passive decision or comment or behavior of Lucy, I was screaming at her through my tv screen. Her attitude was “It’s just the way it is.” I was honestly disgusted with her character by the end of the movie.
ОтветитьVomit. What an aweful story. So unnecessary to write and release such rubbish.
Ответитьwhat has liberal ideas made out of or race? cowards and weaklings.
ОтветитьPlease share the link of this film if you have.
ОтветитьDisgrace novel is in my syllabus and Tomorrow is my exam ...😂😂
ОтветитьStupid movie
ОтветитьAnd the daughter whats wrong with her. She walks around all nude while men are around put some dane chothes on.
ОтветитьLike why dont you leave . Now you pregnant
ОтветитьTerrible i wanna shake his daughter
ОтветитьFinest book of literature i have read in my life so far. I am a professor of English too. The very subject of this novel; instinct and human nature, the way they have been dealt by the writer calls for a roaring applause. J.M coetzee has produced a fine piece of literature indeed!
ОтветитьFantastic book. I never knew it was made into a movie, so then I tried to watch it and it was just a major disappointment. Ah well. J.M. Coetzee has a magnificent sensitivity to plot/context and history, place, feeling, all nuanced by the lingering class system. Yes class. Because even though he wrote this post apartheid, there was still a lingering class system - and, dare I say, there still is.
ОтветитьThis is an award winning film???? This is a pile of crap. The only disgrace here is this entire movie full of psychos and possibly the worst storyline I’ve ever heard. Omg what a waste of life
ОтветитьThe comment section is even more interesting.
ОтветитьWorst P.O.S movie i ever watched
