What if Captain Rex Was Force Sensitive? Let’s explore the depths of it in the video.

It is rare for Palpatine to be taken off guard, especially when it is because his plans have worked too well. As his ship descends on the rainy landing pad, he pulls his hood up tightly, both to hide his features and keep the rain out. A Kaminoan scientist is already waiting for him when he arrives and escorts him to the training facility where the incident happened.

As they pass by, Palpatine looks out from the observation deck, and his eyes widen at the sight. The pristine facility is marked with a huge crack. One that was supposedly caused by a training accident. It was said to have been caused by a single clone. Not with explosives or blasters, but with a burst of energy from his hand.

That can only mean one thing: the Force.

Palpatine: Where is this clone?

Nala Se: We have detained him as you requested, Chancellor. At your word, we can have him terminated.

Palpatine: No, that would be a waste of resources. No, I wish to speak with him.

The scientist frowns, but nods. She takes him to the detention facility where the clone in question is being held. He is not wearing any armor, but is bald, and as Palpatine looks into his brown eyes, he can sense something about him. A spark of power not seen in any of the other clones.

His fears have been confirmed. This trooper is Force-sensitive. He can sense the power within him. He does not know how they accomplished that, but the Kaminoans have created something even Darth Plagueis would have only dreamed of.

Palpatine: You, clone. Explain to me what happened.

Rex: Sir, you see, we were conducting a training exercise. I’m not so sure what happened myself. We were tasked with storming the Citadel, and I was leading my squad forward. There was a gun emplacement causing us some trouble, and it took out half my team. I guess I must have gotten frustrated since I pictured myself destroying it. The next thing I know, the droid gunner and his weapon were thrown back and crushed against the wall. The whole thing blew up.

Palpatine: I see. And you have no idea what happened?

Rex: No, sir, one minute it was there, and the next it’s gone.

Palpatine: Well, trooper, you see. It appears the Kaminoans have detected an anomaly within you. Something they believe makes you exceptionally powerful, but also incredibly dangerous. This is why I am requesting that they conduct further experiments on you, Captain. To learn more about this situation. Assuming that is acceptable with you, Captain.

Rex: Of course, sir, anything to prevent that from happening again.

Palpatine: Good, and as far as anyone else knows, the droid's battery pack simply overheated and exploded. Understood?

In the next few months, Rex is taken to one of Palpatine’s private labs on Mustafar, where he undergoes a series of experiments under the chancellor’s supervision. Every day, they extract blood from the clone, eager to examine how he managed to obtain midichlorians and whether that phenomenon could be replicated.

It is the type of thing that his master would have killed for, a way to artificially transfer midichlorians from one host to another. If that can be done, then it could be game-changing for their quest for immortality and all but guarantee Palpatine’s rise to power.

Aside from that, he wishes to test the strength of the clone captain's Force abilities, exposing him to different situations that might force him to unleash his powers. The effects are impressive, but also destructive. Palpatine sees potential in this plan and in the clone as a future apprentice, one who can replace Dooku and, more importantly, one whom he can control in ways far more thoroughly than he ever could with Maul or Dooku.

Unfortunately, for both of these experiments, Palpatine is bitterly disappointed. The clone proves to be powerful, with an above-average Midichlorian count, but training him is difficult. He is too old and he cannot control his powers as naturally as the Jedi or Sith. A part of that is due to his accelerated aging, the effort is more taxing on him than a normal body.

The efforts of Project Necromaner are even more disappointing. Though Rex’s blood is rich in midi-chlorians, transferring them is impossible as they never survive the effort. No matter how much blood he extracts, it never seems to last. It seems like the Kaminoans may have simply gotten incredibly lucky.

At first, Palpatine is incredibly furious and wishes to do nothing more than discard this useless clone. But he reminds himself that though Rex has failed him in this regard, he still could be useful. The trooper is loyal, and with an army of him around, it will allow him to slip through places that a normal assassin could not.
