I have been TRYING to sign up for Tutanota free email to deal with ATT EMAIL that has been messing with my email account thru SBCGLOBAL, They gaslight their customers with either/or options that do not work to reset password with THEM, there was a suggestion that I get ANOTHER EMAIL address that THEY can send password reset password. I am trying to sign up with Tutanota but cannot get it to work either-got an email name and password but then it falls apart with some PASSPHRASE BALONEY THAT CANCELS EVERYTHING. There us NO SERVICE TO PROBLEM SOLVE THIS MESS. do you have any ideas for me--i am not a computer geek-am a crippled old lady blind in one eye--and this just seems absurd--ANY IDEAS FOR ME??? WEIRD LANDSCAPE INDEED!!!--criminal landscape--no honor among thieves!!!
ОтветитьSome of the Proton subscriptions also includes a VPN, which would probably balance the cost for most people who also want a VPN. Thoughts?
ОтветитьHe kinda looks like FBI
Ответитьyour username: 8a1f14 is a UUDI ? or what do you use to generate that?
ОтветитьGreat review.
ОтветитьWhat about Marcel borqsts simple mail? He also created netgaurd which we'd also like to know your opinion of?
ОтветитьThis service is not for serious users/ Their customer service , technical support and sales service pathetic. Even security system is pathetic.
ОтветитьI'd love to hear your opinion on more email providers. Skiff, Posteo, Mailbox come to mind, but there's more, of course. Skiff is my number one interest right now.
ОтветитьI for one PREFER 'old school' format email where emails are not automatically grouped into conversations.
ОтветитьTerrific.
Ответитьif you are looking for privacy do not use an email. That simple. Tutanota and Protonmail are good but not perfekt clients for illegal stuff, but for every day using email client the are not suitable. Bad calendars with no different event category colors, not pgp or smime support with Tutanota. Small storage etc.. Tutanota already had to implement a function in Germany at the request of the German authorities that emails sent to external email providers are not encrypted directly, but only afterwards. In this way, the authorities can read the emails before they are sent in the event of suspicion. If you want privacy, then use special messengers
ОтветитьI really don't like Tutanota's business model.
So Tutanota reinvented the wheel, okay. Their encryption is the bestest greatest and that's why it has no interoperability. So basically, for Tutanota to "achieve" its goal, it has to become the sole email provider for everyone on the planet. Meanwhile Proton uses PGP, which has interoperability, so Proton allows for competition to exist, and it still has valuable security, because you can prefer the Proton ecosystem, but if not then pick another provider and still use PGP.
I think there is a conflict of interest here from Tutanota. For example is it possible for me to use Tutanota's encryption and create my own provider that works with Tutanota? I can do that with PGP right now, so there is healthy competition, despite PGP not being that good.
Or the other way around. My friends would much rather switch to Proton right now, because it has both VPN and Drive, so it's the most similar to Google, which they already know. But if I personally prefer Tutanota because I dunno, it's cheaper, then tough luck I can't have E2E email with my friends.
You could argue, well it's like Signal and Threema, you can't talk to each other. However this is email, which has spread precisely because it was built on an interoperable infrastructure and it didn't matter which provider you used, you were guaranteed to be able to send and recieve mail from anyone (just like the postal service). So if Tutanota wants to refuse to service other providers, then I don't see how it has any value.
I don't know if i'm actually fooling myself thinking that the country of origin is important?! like, where the servers are based. I know Tutanota has their servers in Germany and Proton in Switzerland. Based on that information i feel more inclined choosing a swiss company.
ОтветитьSkiff thoughts?
ОтветитьWhat is your opinion on Skiff?
ОтветитьThank you so much. This was really good.
ОтветитьI was curious about Tutanota, and found this video. Registered an account there despite the cons, and I should say that as of April 2023 all of UI/UX issues listed in the video are already addressed.
ОтветитьThis was a very nice and informative review. Thanks!
ОтветитьMichael Bazzell a big fan of Graphene OS also chooses Proton. Suggesting not to use Proton if a Graphene user appears not to be a binary choice.
Ответитьbrax mail
ОтветитьThank you. I've had it with Gmail, and this video is just what I was looking for to help me consider a replacement.
ОтветитьSignal is not secured, have you have tried Session or SimpleX? highly recommended.
ОтветитьTutanota use 128 AES engryption and protonmail 256 AES engryption .
Voir l'article sur (techcrunch) intitulé - German secure email provider Tutanota forced to monitor an account, after regional court ruling -
Les deux services sont bien, mais de toute façon, si sa loi ordonne et bien ils fournissent les infos. Une seule messagerie qui n'a pas donné les e-mails de Edward Snowden, c'est Lavabit, il a préféré fermer.
I'm a bit out of the loop, anyone care to tell me if riseup is still good?
Ответить@Sun Knudsen, I know I'm a year late, but what are your thoughts on RiseUp?
ОтветитьProton is a government honeypot, this is well know right now
Ответитьcriptext is email stored on your phone and even lets you delete sent emails if sent within the hour...
ОтветитьI'm interested in PreVeil Mail... any thoughts?
ОтветитьYou NEED to get away from WEB based mail and use a specific Mail Client and preferably one that does not process html email in a Browser is the Single WORST thing ever dreamt up . WEan yourself OFF WEB BASED email that is essential it ought to be made LAW
ОтветитьTutanota is an amazing service - keep up the good work BOTH of you Proton & Tutanota
ОтветитьTutanotas simplicity is a breathe of fresh air, don’t need all those advanced features, privacy means more
ОтветитьAOL mail??
ОтветитьProton Technologies is based in Switzerland which by law is outside of US and EU jurisdictions. Only the Swiss authorities have any access to data or information and even then, everything is encrypted. Any data or information hangover from Proton, in order to be legally binding must come through the Swiss authorities if they approve it, through a court order. Why this happens? Because Switzerland is the only neutral country that is not a member of the 5 eyes Alliance, 9 eyes or 14 eyes. Search the up to see what it means. ProtonVPN uses a no logs policy which is open source and everyone can inspect the code. Their main servers in Switzerland are buried deep in the alps in the mountains, so good luck trying to find them.
ОтветитьNever mind on whose servers your emails are stored. From A to B, they pass through many DNS servers. There may be 25 or 35 server hops between Cupertino and Palembang. And a copy of your open postcard email may be on any or all of them.
ОтветитьPeople cannot discern between Privacy and Security. It is NOT 🚫 the same thing.
ОтветитьPurelymail is better. Costs about $5-$10 per year. If you don't set up password recovery then not even the police can access your account without your password.
ОтветитьI have used Protonmail for several years. However, about two weeks ago I received a notice that my account was possibly hacked. So my account was frozen. I could not access it at all. This has lasted 12 days so far. They do not respond to repeated emails. I cannot afford to rely on protonmail shutting down my business. So beware when considering ProtonMail.
Ответитьexcellent
ОтветитьTutanota was so secure I couldn't get back into it after setting up an account 🫤
ОтветитьTutanota is a company with too small of a scale, and it has recently changed its name as well, so one should not rely on it too heavily.
ОтветитьSignal is not secure. The NSA can see everything on there.
ОтветитьI use Fastmail.
ОтветитьWhat about apple email?
ОтветитьHi @sunknudsen, very good video.
One question I have: How Tuta sends someone an email if the contacs are encrypted? How does that work? Looks like sending a letter to someone but not writing on the envelope your address and the address of the recepient. I am wrong?
Thanks.
Check about Proton's IP filtration an activist was reported.
ОтветитьWhat a great review/comparison! I've been wanting to get off of Outlook for awhile, and recently created a tuta account. Configured my personal domain, everything went super smooth....started getting emails with 10 minutes. Then started looking into custom rules/filtering for the large # of aliases I want to use.
Here are a couple of things that caused me to reconsider tuta after about a week of "deep diving". It seems the rules/filtering functionality in tuta is limited compared to what you can do with Sieve scripting in Protonmail. I created a Protonmail account so I could experiment, and (for me) the biggest deterrent to using Protonmail is the price. Is it worth $48/year (on top of custom domain and 3rd party aliasing service)?
The other thing....within a few days after creating and sending a few messages between outlook and my new tuta account, I got hit in Outlook with "there has been suspicious activity on your account, and we are temporarily blocking you..." I looked under "Security" to see recent login attempts and saw that for the first time ever I was getting warnings about Exchange server "sync attempts." These attempts failed, fortunately, but they were related not only to my primary Outlook login, but also the alias I use in Outlook. And these attempts were every 4 hours FROM GERMANY. This made me suspect (right or wrong) that it had something to do with my communication to my tuta account (based in Germany).
Anyway, I still have both accounts and am still trying to decide. Really appreciate this review....super helpul.
mention tuta email takes 24 hours for approval
ОтветитьQuestion: How do you use "Private" email and suddenly STOP using your REAL name for Official Logins???
ОтветитьI'm dumping Proton and upgrading Tuta, much better.
