Change the background

ОтветитьHello,
ОтветитьWhat country r u in?
ОтветитьThe Iwanagara is not a cutting from my orchid, I purchased it as a young plant 🙂 The tag doesn't specify the variety but it's probably the pink one 'cause the nursery had listed a photo of the pink Iwanagara. WOW - Daisy chain's looking glorious! 😯
ОтветитьHow long do I need to leave my phalaenopsis outside when it’s cool, to get it to bloom?
ОтветитьYes, you are overexposed and the white background does not help😉😍
ОтветитьQuestion:
Do you turn your growlights off at night? The reason I ask is I'm wondering if the CAM photosynthesis orchids go through where they do their gas exchange at night to conserve water means orchids want some sort of light-dark cycle. A bit like a circadian rhythm for plants.
Another question: I haven't been able to find a straight answer to whether Dendrobium moniliforme wants a winter rest/dormancy or not. Do you know?
Finally, thank you for the videos. They are super awesome and helpful.
I also have had a siamese doll kiwi for almost 3 years. It grows very slowly and has never bloomed. <the old leaves also wrinkle and warp sometimes> Hello from RO
ОтветитьHi Danny, I love orchid updates!
Yeah, I am having problems with 2 dendrobiums as well. Weird, but my denphal didn't bloom the last 2 years at all, even though it got lots of light and had some nice mature growths. I would like to know what I did wrong. But then, it suddenly got attacked by spider mites and trips and lost all leaves, went through a lot of treatment to get rid of the mites, started recovery and put many new growths but the attack continued. It seems I will lose it.
Wow, I didn't know/remember that Renantera can get that big!
About Catasetum tipes, how long do they take to grow completely and how to know that they are done growing? Which temperature do they need in the growing season? I bought 2 this year, but didn't thought they would be so small (one, the wine delight, was stated as flowering size). The wine delight also got spider mites 😢
Dramatic....
But great to see your other orchids. Beautiful bulbophyllum!
Greetings from Denmark!
I love chilling. Thanks.
ОтветитьSunset valley orchids recreated the cross for iwanagara apple blossom. I got 3 seedlings last winter/early spring. One has already bloomed - white. I hope the other two are different. Lol.
ОтветитьSpotted cattleyas always give me problems. I heard bifoliate cattleyas are fussy. All my spotted cattleyas are bifoliate😮
ОтветитьI live in Brisbane Queensland in temperate climate. All my Australian Dendrobiums live outside with dappled sunlight. They can endure extremes of temperatures. My Den.loddigesii is vigorous in 7degC to 30 degC. Thru our Spring & now Summer its doubled in size!
ОтветитьI have a phalaenopsis orchids that got crown rot. I managed to save/stop the rot. However, there’s no centre to the plant. Only 2 healthy leaves, growing a heaps of roots but no keiki, no new leaves (they have nowhere to come from) just a lot of new healthy roots. Any ideas what I should do? How long should I wait? Should I just cut my losses and chuck it? Any help or opinions would be appreciated please.
ОтветитьWith the Dendrobium kingianum: Put it outside, dont worry about it growing new growth in the process. My Aussie dens grow over winter as well, not as much as summer so its just a thing with them. We get winter rains so watering at a reduced rate over winter is fine as long as the canes are not shriveled
ОтветитьOMG Danny the background 😂 please do a dark background, my eyes are burnt lol
ОтветитьYou should definitely throw out the kingianum in a lightly shaded spot and leave it out the whole year except for frost.
And I would also give the lodigesii shaded spot outside. I mean you got nothing to lose, but some plants really thrive if you put them in“harsher“ conditions
It wants to grow outside lol
ОтветитьI listened to you say summer ended 2 weeks ago 😂. Here 🤣it’s -20C tonight the sun rose at 8:20am sets at 4:23pm. But the humidity is 75%🎉. Thanks for the video! I always wondered what that last plant was called.❤
ОтветитьD.lodigesii tends to be grown on mounts when I’ve seen it here in Australia. Maybe a mount would work for you?
ОтветитьDanny, your Grace Dunn might bloom at that size. She is a small orchid, and her blooms are just precious!
ОтветитьThe lodigessi looks similar to a dendrobiums I purchased from Japan. It was a cool grower. That may be the problem with yours too. I live in Texas, so it was a goner. 😂
ОтветитьYou are overexposed--btw, I miss seeing your orchids behind you like in the old place. You probably don't have room for that, though. 🤗
ОтветитьWill plant lights expose me to too much uv and blue light
ОтветитьGreat advice on the bulbophyllum. I’ve had a grandiflorum for years and she’s gigantic, I’m lucky if I get 1 flower when it should be covered with blooms. I think I will gradually move her in with the dendrobiums. Hopefully that will work and I can take some before and after pictures
ОтветитьThat bulbophyllum is pretty amazing!
