Real car guys head to a secluded place away from people and race "safely" and only put their own lives at risk. They don't rip doughnuts in a busy intersection or through a crowd of people. Most importantly, the cars they are running weren't stolen an hour ago....

Don't think takeovers like this are a thing here in Australia, at least I haven't seen any or heard of it. The worst I've seen from the younger generation of car enthusiasts here are making cringe tik toks featuring their stock Suzuki Swift or Mitsubishi lancer and calling it a sleeper because they put a pod filter on it, or hint that their alternator is a turbo. Second best was meeting a group of young dudes with their VW Golfs talking about how much they had to pay to get their mods installed and get their cars serviced lol, but that's neither here nor there I guess not everyone enjoys working on their own cars and modern euro cars can be a pain in the ass and need special tools maybe.

Still met some cool young people who were enthusiastic about their cars even if they weren't that knowledgeable yet and they are still better to talk to than the gatekeeping boomers with their imported v8 muscle cars

Street takeovers are the most disrespectful shit I’ve ever experienced in my life. Never wanted to flatten a bunch of dickheads so much in my life but then I’d somehow be in the wrong.

How are they ruining the car scene there just have there own way of fun and evolving it to their own style that pleases them. But I do understand the mob mentality and how dangerous it gets to bystanders

The appeal and allure of take overs and things like that is the thrill of doing something wrong. Living in Philly, the late 90s til the 2010s was the peak of the street culture. I was in it. Now the "bike life" scene had taken over and it's not good. Mopars run the streets and do these takeoverswith no regard for life. It's a shame.

In Virginia your more likely to get shot for doing this then crashing we have no chill for those that destroy our history

One time there was an attempted takeover in the Walmart parking lot near where I live. At 6PM. The Walmart was still open, and there were a bunch of cars AND PEDESTRIANS in the parking lot. The fucking idiot in a ratted out Honda Civic almost hit me as I was trying to leave the store, and proceeded to crash into a parked car. Luckily, no one was injured. I made sure to call the driver a fucking dumbass before getting in my car and going home.

Not gonna lie when I say I was really tempted to rev my engine and shout “check my car out, it actually runs and drives”, but I figured the dumbass had already suffered enough.

I love cars but I have always hated things like this. Never went to any and never will. The people that go to these are all annoying and loud and careless. Also can’t stand drifting or tire smoke. I love cars. I don’t like “car” people

I like my car to much to waist my time and go to something like this where someone could completely ruin my build by crashing into my car that took me forever to build 🤦‍♂️

In europe the car community is wayy more chill like there are no takeovers (atleast I haven't heard about any)

The thing with takeovers is They could probably put in permits and start a convention somewhere or even get a few blocks of the city blocked off to do it properly. Though you couldnt do random burnouts theyd still be almost as fun and you could do 95% of the shit they do at takeovers. Another benefit is takeovers can last a super short time where doing it properly can last days

It’s definitely just too “just too stick it, to the man”. The car is a secondary thing, the primary thing is “fuck you, I know I’m not supposed to do this, but you can’t stop me”.

And the more you try to tell them, it’s dangerous for others or your giving car enthusiast a bad name, the more they will want to do it.

Street take over use to never block traffic. We would go to a place where no1 else involve would be and just stay there until the cops come then we would all leave.

Street racing is not a takeover, because is safer to line 2 cars up on a high way where no one is and do a few pulls and leave , compared to a intersection that is full of people trying to drift in a circle

Ultimately all these illegal activities will lead to massive arrests and an increase of police on the streets. Also stricter street laws.

Update on the guy who killed those two people at H2Oi Wildwood was just secentced to 25 years in a New Jersey state prison even though the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office wanted him to receive Life (because he killed 2 people). And one of the main issues with what happened with H2Oi Wildwood was that they came during an extremely busy weekend where all the law enforcement agencies on the Wildwoods were busy, as the island had three big events that weekend, Wildwood Crest had Seafarers Festival, North Wildwood had the annual Fall Irish Festival and Wildwood had the annual Fall Classic Car Show. I also remember that the local hospital was very busy that weekend

Street car takeovers are the worse thing to happen to the car enthusiasts community. However, if you're bothered or annoying by them then take away their power and don't go to them or endorse them. Real car enthusiasts know what real car meets are. These street takeovers are not a part of the car community

Takeovers, as theyre called now has been a thing for a while. In the past, they used to be called side shows. You had parking lot and street sideshows. When those sideshows started the folks with something to lose left and those who didn't care stayed for the attraction. The advent of social media made them a bigger attraction than what they should or need be. However, for people to act as if they're a new thing is silly. Thank social media for bringing them to the pubic eye and for drawing them to the attention of squares, hoity toity enthusiast, the news, and other folks.

As a fact there were no street take overs in the 80’s and 90’s. Cops were all over and you would get towed and jailed. The shit that happens now is easy access to high hp cars and an unwillingness by the pd to do anything about it. Since the blm protests most police departments have refused to do their jobs. It’s on them and they suck
