They have nothing to do with modern day Uyghurs and have no connection to them, and this video is supposed to be about the history of the UYGHURS, right??
The Yugurs are actually highly Sinicized, so this is very misleading and reinforces the wrong perception.
At a time when China is trying to erase Uyghur heritage, culture, and identity and convince the world that Uyghurs are "Chinese", using that picture to be your stand-out depiction in a video titled "Who Are the Uyghurs" is highly inaccurate, ill-informed, and even distasteful.

Missed a lot of really important points like: the Han Chinese have lived in the Xinjiang region since 340B.C., over 800 years before the Uyghurs moved there. Also, the Uighurs never once controlled a state or kingdom in the Xinjiang region the entire time that they've lived there. In other words, the Han Chinese are the oldest ethnic group in the region, and they've never had to contend with Uyghurs governing over them.

The fact is, the Uyghurs have never been as numerous or as prosperous as they are at present. Hard to call them "repressed" when their lives have never been better.

You know what is common among in both "muslim", western and chinese sources/narrations about when it comes to Uyghurs? Downplaying their Turkic identity and putting them into the "muslim" or "some nomads from the steppes" basket. Thats why Turkish/Turkic muslims are losing their faith and trying to distance themselves from both the "other muslims"/so-called "Islamic world" and westerners.
