Excellent. You can't see from below but hopefully, butyl tape was installed on the top of the joists, and if it is pressure-treated wood, used stainless steel deck screws. How do I know? Because my contractor didn't so my decking and joists are rotting. The Home Depot "guaranteed 10 years from corrosion" deck screws began to rust within 2 years due to the high moisture here on Windward Oahu and the chemical used for pressure-treated lumbar is twice as strong as the mainland due to the ultra-destructive, Formosan termite. No butyl tape used either. Very expensive but must use marine-grade stainless steel deckscrews for longevity.

Can you build a 16x20 using 2x8x10 with doubles beams at each 10ft? Just curious or does it have be 2x10 ?

Well, the framing isn't pt, and doubling those joists is a bad idea as water will sit in there and cause rot.
But I build in a really rainy climate.

This is only slightly above standards in some places, this should be the normal, but sadly it's one of the best.

I am not thrilled about the deck. You’re happy about the framing. How about the blocks that are sitting on the grass and on the dirt which heavy rain will shift. How about the connections of the white 4 x 4‘s up against the deck rim box how are they attached

What is the lateral load bracing connected too? It’s below the rim of the house.

A double rim joist with hangers? If those joists are box nailed through the first rim joist, there is absolutely no need for Simpson to make money off the hangers.

Deck looks sturdy but with new building codes I thought you could no longer tie back joist onto back of the house. They probably would have to have 3 additional posts ?.

Boy wld u hve a field day with the shoemaker job my landlord had done replacing a small existing deck that was rotting off of the upstairs back bedroom of my house. . They cut the original joistes at the wall, then just literally screwed the new deck directly to the wood siding. . Then two 4/4 supports running at a angle back to the house, also just skrewd onto the wood siding. . . Thrs tons of gaps where the supports are connected, and its completely unlevel. .i won't even go out on it. . I trusted the old one that the rails were rotting off more.
