Owner didn't go with the lowest quote.
ОтветитьA 2000 lb deck surely , a family can feel safe
ОтветитьExcellent. You can't see from below but hopefully, butyl tape was installed on the top of the joists, and if it is pressure-treated wood, used stainless steel deck screws. How do I know? Because my contractor didn't so my decking and joists are rotting. The Home Depot "guaranteed 10 years from corrosion" deck screws began to rust within 2 years due to the high moisture here on Windward Oahu and the chemical used for pressure-treated lumbar is twice as strong as the mainland due to the ultra-destructive, Formosan termite. No butyl tape used either. Very expensive but must use marine-grade stainless steel deckscrews for longevity.
ОтветитьCan you build a 16x20 using 2x8x10 with doubles beams at each 10ft? Just curious or does it have be 2x10 ?
ОтветитьThis inspector is pretty easy to please. Those posts need more blocking.
ОтветитьCrikey Americans are impressed with some rubbish
ОтветитьNice to see good craftsmanship in addition to shoddy work from time to time
ОтветитьI built it
ОтветитьWell, the framing isn't pt, and doubling those joists is a bad idea as water will sit in there and cause rot.
But I build in a really rainy climate.
This is only slightly above standards in some places, this should be the normal, but sadly it's one of the best.
ОтветитьI didn't see any fasteners on the support column connection to the band joist.
ОтветитьAdvertise the builder!
ОтветитьI am not thrilled about the deck. You’re happy about the framing. How about the blocks that are sitting on the grass and on the dirt which heavy rain will shift. How about the connections of the white 4 x 4‘s up against the deck rim box how are they attached
Ответитьas Per 2018 IRC code
ОтветитьReminds me of my father in law, very slowly and carefully does his jobs, takes the extra time to do it right and it shows
ОтветитьWhat is the lateral load bracing connected too? It’s below the rim of the house.
ОтветитьPeople walk on decks, not drive cars on them
ОтветитьSalute a real builder.
ОтветитьI grew up in construction, Dad was a carpenter builder. YES this deck is very well built.
ОтветитьNice deck
ОтветитьA double rim joist with hangers? If those joists are box nailed through the first rim joist, there is absolutely no need for Simpson to make money off the hangers.
ОтветитьIt's actually easier to do things right, than to half/ass things...FACT... Nice job !!! 👍🇺🇸❤️
ОтветитьDeck looks sturdy but with new building codes I thought you could no longer tie back joist onto back of the house. They probably would have to have 3 additional posts ?.
Ответить"But they didn't have permits to build it, so it'll have to come down!"
ОтветитьProbably got sued for cutting corners and decided to overbuild after
ОтветитьNice build.
ОтветитьBoy wld u hve a field day with the shoemaker job my landlord had done replacing a small existing deck that was rotting off of the upstairs back bedroom of my house. . They cut the original joistes at the wall, then just literally screwed the new deck directly to the wood siding. . Then two 4/4 supports running at a angle back to the house, also just skrewd onto the wood siding. . . Thrs tons of gaps where the supports are connected, and its completely unlevel. .i won't even go out on it. . I trusted the old one that the rails were rotting off more.
ОтветитьThis inspired my deck build to be😊
ОтветитьReal men actually give a damn about doing a job right.
Ответитьif they do not have flashing will the side of the house rot?
ОтветитьHobres at Home Depot banging this out for coronas and below minimum wage
ОтветитьGoddamn that man has a rigid deck
ОтветитьWow, anyone complimenting this deck has no business ever trying to build one...
ОтветитьLooks like professional carpenters built that deck.
Ответитьlooks like the home owner did that one..
ОтветитьThat’s craftsmanship…..
ОтветитьPride in your work, can't beat that. Rare to see anymore.
ОтветитьJust one silly question, what's to keep it from swaying? That deck is high enough up it could benefit from a little more bracing.
ОтветитьThat pile of shit wouldn’t fly in California I can tell you that for a fact
ОтветитьLooks like some of Bidens wetback trying to make a tree house strong
ОтветитьNicely done
ОтветитьShould have used pressure treated wood.
ОтветитьWhat are the posts sitting on? Looks like a little block. Why go to the trouble to build a nice deck if you won't put proper footings? Maybe I can't see, unsure
ОтветитьI was expecting a sarcastic vid honestly
ОтветитьFrom the moment you see guys arriving with pneumatic nailers and not screw guns to work the wood, you understand that it was going to be a shitty site.
ОтветитьThat is someone who read the building code and did it to the letter, deff not a contractor, lol!
ОтветитьNotch the posts please. i've seen many beams twist overtime
ОтветитьNow I have deck envy
ОтветитьMe and my cousin built this deck. It took the better part of the weekend and a couple cases of beer!!!
ОтветитьShould have put the lateral load bracing sideways...not through the decorative siding...🤷♂️
