I am currently in highschool and i am studying for animation meanwhile everyone around is studying for regular jobs so i sometimes doubt this decision. Ive always loved cartoons games comic etc and I really love character and game designing but i am afraid of losing my passion for art during the portfolia process or will i ever get bored of it but ik deep inside me i cant give up on art so idk
ОтветитьI’m a complete beginner in animation and I really want to get in to it and not just work for a studio I want to to make my own films only thing is I’m 24 years old and barely know how to draw a stick figure, barely. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated
ОтветитьIMO this is a great example of economics determining the production of certain forms of art, especially when the career is determined by corporations. Sorry that you’re struggling.
ОтветитьAm basically going to quit animation and my life and going to go with a boring dead end job at a office, i wasted 9 years of my life to nothing to show but shorts no one watches, as a person who from California and can't get a simple job....am sad my life going to end at 28...
ОтветитьI finally found your channel again!!!
ОтветитьCalarts alum posse, WHOOP WHOOP!
ОтветитьThe paused the video and decided to leave the second after the opening animations finished. Because no matter what anybody says, I am not going to be discouraged and give up on animation. I have a passion for art and drawing, and I am going to keep it.
ОтветитьKeep practicing! No one is born with talent :)
ОтветитьWith the streaming bubble pop, do you still feel the same way on these points?
ОтветитьWhat's the program you use for camera movements??
ОтветитьScrew studios. Lets just make a conglomerate or union whatever and make our own movies. Everyone involved gets a percentage of the movie ( adcentive to do good work instead of regurgitating remake after remake) now artists are not getting screwed, ideas are allowed to flourish, and you dont get canceled cause 1 ahole didnt like it that "works" at the top. There are free programs. Lets do this. Problem solved!
ОтветитьAnimate virus attack human, medical student and staff all had in mind during pandemic
Ответитьthank you
ОтветитьPersonally, I won't go to an animation school to become a full time animator, instead I'll learn it on my own and create my own animated projects and potentially getting freelancer jobs in big or indie animation projects. For me, animation seems to be a good side hustle. What do you think?
ОтветитьThere are two types of people , those who see ai taking over their jobs and those who see ai as a tool to produce more jobs.
You can quit being an animator and become the whole darn studio.
As a creative who tried to get a more conventional job at a point of my career where I had strong doubts, all I can tell is that it doesn't get easier there either. You're still expected to be a highly skilled professional who walks the extra mile and does his extra hours for little money. I think a lot of creatives are often disillusioned with the industry because they fell for this "Pick a career you like and you wont have to work a single day and everything will be a cakewalk"-BS. Yeah, not gonna happen. Work is hard. ...but if you're a creative, you're probably right in the creative industry, even if things could be better in terms of work environments and paychecks.
ОтветитьAgrée 😊
ОтветитьThanks for the tips and advice 😊
ОтветитьI chose animation as a career because I wanted to create a world where my socks would never get lost in the laundry, turns out, drawing them on screen was the easiest way!
ОтветитьGuys, Moho animation app can expand your possibilities.
ОтветитьDon't understand why in the community part, you mention the people being left wing/democrats and talked about homosexuality and diversity.
ОтветитьThis video aged like milk.
Stability? LMAO
You have to be insane to persue animation as a career.
That was a first thing teacher told us on the prep courses that i got before aplying to an institute of film and tv as an animation director.
This man , who was at the forfront of the industry before turning to teaching, spend first two "classes" not only introducing us to the job , but discouraging us, explaining how much it sucks.
No one turned back. We were the insane.
That year i failed to get in , sorted out by the cultural knowledge and memory part of the exam.(i can barely remember names of things i dont have strong as fire passion about) but i didnt give up then nor ever since. No rational. I suck at drawing but process math efortlessly, i was gonna be a programer before i discovered the magic of animation for myself.
(And yes animator and director differ, but we all knew that our only animators would be ourselves, it was just a profesion that covers more ground to us.)
(Sidenote: we all sucked there and then , but we sucked with flame in our eyes , goddamit!)
Yea for U
ОтветитьAnd what about region you are in? eg. Brazil, here there isn't not much jobs for animation based on the country i live in
ОтветитьI love animation but honestly think that I prefer comics/graphic novels
ОтветитьI keep returning to the thought of whether or not I'm making the right decision - I'm terrified of my future in animation. I've been into animation for the past 15 years and worked with animation on my own time. I feel that I don't have the spark like some others do, but I'd be devastated if I had to leave it all behind.
Really hoping the overabundance of artists and availability of resources will open up more passionate studios so we aren't still being strangled by big uncaring companies. I only recently started real animation work and really don't want to be in a situation where I'm forced to work practically all day every day with pathetic pay that barely keeps me going. It's no way to live.
y'all just a question, i'm still under the age of 16. do i have potential?
ОтветитьIf you guys do any 3d animation or 2d spline animation, look into slot machine companies. Theyre the one art sector thats actively hiring
ОтветитьI thought I wanted to do this back in 1992. I got a job at new start up and quickly came to the realization that I would be A, working in an office all day. B, shackled to a computer terminal for 14 hours a day in a little sequestered suite with 5 other guys. Expected to sleep under my desk at crunch time. The "Cool" factor disappeared in about a week. It just looked like a different version of a garment sweat shop. The guy who ran the place was an asshole. I had no desire what so ever to move up. The animation job held no interest for me. That was the end of wanting to work in computer graphics.
ОтветитьHazbin Hotel proves that animation is as a career choice is more than just a means to an end. It’s practically a tesseract of career options
And yeah, studying it just to work for another empire is pretty shallow for any artist. All artists should strive to be their own bosses
Are there animation jobs in Thailand?
Ответитьas someone who used to work in the art industry. I’m never going back…fuck em.
ОтветитьWhat program are you using to animate
ОтветитьYou know man I really love you
And I have a great passion towards animation so I want to learn animation but the course you are selling in your website is very very up than my budget as I am from India and here 1$= almost100₹.
So gona learn it with out paying you 😼....
I’m not an animator but I just want to say to all you discouraged animators out there, I have so much admiration for what animators do. Artists make this place worth living in and I wish you all the best.
Ответитьthe cold reality
ОтветитьI give up at this point I’d sell drugs the art industry is a joke
ОтветитьGuys you gotta help me !!! Idk I'm thinking on pursuing animation as my master(outside india) im good at sketching im in my final year as a English literature student but my passion for art is asking me to give it a chance in planning on for getting more perfect in sketching and then do diploma in animation as a skill development and go for internship this plan but after this video and comments im kind off doubtful to step in or back off 😔 it's not like i have the only option of animation i have more but this us something i love to do this is like my first preference im still gonna have a backup plan please you guys suggest me 😅😅
ОтветитьHmm for me I think animation might have been fun but sadly it's alot of work-12 hour shift/2 much perfection and coming to think of sad how the animation pple field works for fast food ads, factory, retail and many more workplaces even though pple ain't working inside the building but outside within the nightmare of sales
ОтветитьIm currently losing all motivation to continue. I changed path 2 times, first nurse, and then graphist.
I studied animation in a school for 2 years, but Im slow at drawing, and I had health issues, so they expelled me and scammed me 2k into tripping me by making me believe I may have a second chance.
I'm currently a 2 years animation bachelor degree student in debt, and I wonder if its worth continuing.
My "artistic career" isnt getting anywhere so far, I dont even make money or have an audience for what I share (its been 10 years im on social media)
Even the 2 other schools I applied to tell me Im too old to enter in the industry and I'm only 25.
Is it worth continuing? Is it worth continuing sharing my art and not making engagement and money? The industry is so clogged already is it worth continuing?
Im not even sure to work before my 40s.
Im exhausted, feed up. I wanna quit.
Why should I waste my energy for that.
I'm into 3D Animation from the perspective of algorithms and computer simulations.
ОтветитьYour video's are honest, informative and so on point. I'm really glad I discovered this channel. Best regards!
Ответитьim in animation classes rn in uni dont really have that much of a portfolio whats the best way to have more to get a portfolio while also gaining work experience ?
ОтветитьJust think about it simplistically. A Doctor/ Teacher/Lawyer/Electrician need formal qualifications. It filters out 99% of people who want to do it, to the people that can. Animation and other art jobs don't have that.
ОтветитьThis is very insightful thank you for the information
ОтветитьHaving to work at a big studio like Disney, pixar, or dreamworks. Is actually somehow rare, I can accept being hired by small studios as long as I can animate or be in the creative side of the film or series. Because most of the times, even if you worked at Disney you are basically just helping them, but you have to accept that even if you are not there I don't think they will care. Being happy just being in the animation industry is already a happiness for me as I can consider myself "successful" in entering the industry.
Get used to the change in everything. That's basically how the animation industry works, you don't get to choose your style. As for me, I like the challenge in changing artstyle to artstyle, since I have a lot to learn from it.
I'm just scared because I generally lack motivation for things. I'll start a project, and then loae interest, or think it's not good enough.
