Panasonic BGH1: 1984 GH5s With Zero Improvements

I don't know shit about cameras. I was looking into buying this camera. The 10mp seems bad to me. Like 10 years ago I bought a Sony Nex something something and it was 24mp. It was only 1080p but I mean still it was worth the 2k at the time for me for photography. I am trying to get into cinematography and have a weak ass budget. I wanted the Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro but all the accessories just to make it work out how I want totals to like 15k. What do you guys recommend for someone who doesn't have a budget past 2k? Should I just buy a normal camera at that price point? Also I have no lenses.

Is there a phase detection focusing system that doesn’t band or have some type of artifacts when underexposed? Sometimes you want to expose for highlights!

Mmmmh..Focusing has always been done manually in the film industry. You have a very pronounced narcissistic vibe. You should go for stand up comedy.

have to concur on this -the BGH1 seems to me to be a repackaging of the GH5S, but with few if any improvements. The equivalent Z-Cam E2-M4 does up to 4k160, Up to 16 stops of range (WDR), and has 12-bit RAW recording to an external Ninja V recorder. Plus it is cheaper. Panasonic - massive fail - stop messing with this heap of recycled junk and get a move on with the GH6 or whatever you have planned to succeed and improve on the successful GH5.

The Bgh1 has an updated autofocus and it works extremely well. You should look into it. It's actually pretty impressive.

Most serious Cinematographers don't like IBIS, as it's too unpredictable for professional use, where dollies, gimbals, steadicams and rigs are pretty much the norm. Same with autofocus, it's just not something which is used that much in pro cinema. I pretty much think the BGH1 is meant for situations where cinema quality is needed, but a normal sized cinema camera won't fit. It's also small and light enough for drone use and has a lot of connectivity for studio set ups. Definitely not a camera aimed at vloggers.

By the time it gets here.. you will want it . This is the future; It has a fan. It understands that AF always has limitations and image stabilization for sub 100mm lenses are a gimble or a tripod. But... I know you will realize this in about 2 months.

Hey, just because it has no phase detect auto-focus, IBIS, screen, built-in ND, 4K above 60fps, 4:2:2 10 bit internal recording, XLR inputs, joystick, weather sealing, wave forms, vectorscopes, Panasonic's best version of V-log, improvements to the color science, or any other sort of unique feature not seen on some other Panny model (or other system) doesn't mean you shouldn't go out right now and buy two of them! In case the first one breaks.

Pany really should output a low pixels GH6, since the G9 is already perfect for pictures (& almost for video), so it would make no sense not taking advantage of a crucial way to reduce the micro 4/Loser-3rd con: low light. With proper AF for video, they make the perfect cake!

can you review the sony 90mm macro. there are heaps of vids telling me its sharp and versatile but i can't find any on how it performs as a vlogging lens (the only metric that matters)
