1 CPU CORE & RTX 4090 Vs Ray Traced AAA Games - Will They Run?

Can modern AAA games run with only a single CPU core when you enable Ray Tracing, 4K and max out all of the settings? Well in this video we're going to be testing just that very thing. Given there's so much discussion regarding how well modern games run on lower end hardware, I thought it would be a fun video to test the lowest possible CPU configuration possible, just 1 performance core and 2 threads. I had initially disabled HT too, but virtually no games would run in this configuration, so settled to benchmark with a min setting of HT on.

We're going to be using an Nvidia RTX 4090 graphics card and testing and benchmarking games such as Resident Evil 4, Dead Space remake, Alan Wake 2, Returnal, Cyberpunk 2077, Tekken 8 and Last of Us (amongst others) to see whether or not they even load.

On titles which crash or error out, we'll throw more threads at the problem and see what the tipping point is for them to actually be playable in our testing.

The PC we're using is Windows 11 with 32GB RAM, all games / OS updated and installed on NVME drives, RTX 4090 and an Intel I9-13900K. All graphics settings are maxed out in games, aside from lens flare and blurs and noise grain (and other such affects) because I personally don't like them.

Ray Tracing is enabled and set to max in titles such as Returnal which support it, and of course games are tested at the 4K resolution.

We use the ASUS Z690 Gaming Strix motherboard BIOS to enable / disable P and E cores in our 13900k system. The RTX 4090 is set to default of course.
