Exploring Whiskey Cocktails Episode 3 - the Bourbon Smash

In today's episode of Exploring Whiskey Cocktails, we present a great summer drink...the Bourbon Smash!! This cocktail has a history going back to 1862 and we don't exactly know why but a smash is a julep, but a julep is not always a smash. This can be presented a few different ways but we go with the Fancy version and strain the cocktail over a large rock. You can explore using other types of whiskey or fruit other than lemon BUT on a hot day this drink is very refreshing.

Recipe:
- 2oz whiskey
- 3/4 oz simple syrup
- 1/2 large lemon
- 6-8 mint leaves
- ice
