So uhh... New player here. What is PvM?
ОтветитьI'd like to see OSRS players fight things like Yakamaru or Telos or Nex: AoD without ground markers.
ОтветитьWhat people fail to mention about AColdOne's Leviathan kill is that the only way he is able to do that is because he practiced so much using tile markers that it's now second nature to him lol. Not that it's not impressive, but imagine learning the boss initially with no help like that, I wonder if the strats and patterns would be different or less optimal?
ОтветитьI fucking refuse to use runelite and plugins. You’re not even playing a game anymore, that shits wack as fuck.
ОтветитьI can't imagine playing runescape without runelite. Quests are often extremely annoying to do without it.
Ответитьoh no! tiles being highlighted in my point and click game! all the milligrams of soul they're missing out on!
ОтветитьI know this video is old but as someone just getting into high end pvm content (trying to get quiver atm) I fear the existence of tile markers is affecting how they design high end content, and soon we'll start seeing content that is impossible for 99% of players without the plugin. I don't like that though, runelite should not be a requirement. I don't want content that I cannot do on the default client.
Admittedly I'm not a good runesplayer player and probably never will be, so maybe I'm wrong. but I feel like I am close to average and I don't want people like me to feel they simply cannot do some content without a 3rd party client.
Thankfully I think jagex is learning on this front now. The moons that came out and I barely see anyone bothering with tile markers or its very minimal. Cause the floors and mechanics are so clear compared to so many other areas in the game. ToA has some good areas for that as well, cause atleast most of the markers there are less about just doing the content at all, and more exploiting it to make things easier lol
Like look at zebak, sure it could use some slightly more defined tiles, but honestly the only thing I ever felt the need to mark was the guaranteed pot location and the max range I could shoot at so I didnt move weird by accident. So much of this game could be so drastically improved if they did tile overhauls to make some things clear without the need to mark them yourself
Recently came back to rs. Never used addons, never will. Getting sweaty on runescape always seemed really, really incredibly cringe.
ОтветитьLooks like leviathon is kinda like phase 2 of kel thuzzad
ОтветитьI say give the PvM sweaties a truly impossible raid. Then let them try forever.
ОтветитьAny other mmo would of made these plugins illegal. FF14/WoW has already considered this level of plugin usage to be cheating, because it changes the game entirely. And it affects the game design as well.
ОтветитьBro you look like a walking skeleton lmao please go eat something
ОтветитьI want MORE PvM that's more casual. I refuse to be sorry about this.
ОтветитьGood stuff
ОтветитьSOMEHOW, A Cold One's version was easier to understand than all the squares.... am I tripping? Every move he made made sense and I've never seen this fight or know the mechanics.
ОтветитьJust returned to this video and it inspired me to remove my ground markers and tile indicators for a while.
I used them very conservatively to begin with, and true tile indicators are so useful... but seeing clips of the game without those ugly sqaures made the game seem more fun.
Even if I have to relearn bosses and raids, I think it will eventually feel more rewarding.
If there was an alternative version of ‘tile indicator’ that literally just teleported my character around.. I would use it, just to laugh my ass off. For real, I want it.
ОтветитьOSRS players love to act superior to RS3 players but because of plugins it is actually a far easier game. Even without plugins it would be easier
ОтветитьI got into OSRS for a few months before RS3 dropped the Sanctum of Rebirth. First thing I thought was “wow this would be easier with tile markers”.
Then I realised the floor was pre-made with tile markers baked in.
that thing with cold one was so cool man <3
ОтветитьYou look like bernardo 'la pastilla' silva, Portuguese attacking midfielder for man city FC.. good content tho👍
Ответитьisnt that cheating
Ответитьi want to talk about Manscaped Ts... i'm very tough on shirts; will the shirts from Manscaped rip and tear easily? will they come apart at the seams if i sit down wrong or shift wrong? how much do these Ts stretch?
ОтветитьMaybe I havnt noticed before but has Jimmy always been this skinny? He looks sickly and with no disrespect intended there.
ОтветитьQuestion though could cold one do it if the plugins never existed in the first place
ОтветитьTake that square BS and make it into its own game that doesn’t include the world of RuneScape. Just squares.
Ответитьwow you actually look like an OSRS player
ОтветитьThe only time I've used tiles markers was when I was learning hydra. Then I got rid of them. And Will is wrong. I think MOST people can discern tiles.
Ответитьthe "id just watch a guitar hero video" gets at the heat my feelings about RuneScape. osrs is a rhythm game! it's not an mmo it's a rhythm game that should feature more intentional design both visually and mechanically in the base game that embraces this fact and encourages approaching it from that direction in a reasonable way.
Ответитьin wow, we min-maxed the fun out of the game. but in OSRS, we min-maxed the fun INTO it.
ОтветитьIts not a plugin, its a plug
ОтветитьThe skill floor has been raised a lot. You gotta be passable at PvM to get a quest cape now, especially on a low level low geared account like maybe an ironman.
ОтветитьThere is a big issue with game being balanced around plugins.
ОтветитьOMG... 10 mins of babbling.... Get to the point straight...
ОтветитьThis is a hard one to even balance. Without just straight up banning markers, you're always going to have people doing the same boss but some are essentially playing with a guide enabled and some are going in raw. You can do it without the guide, sure, but you really need to know what you're doing so well that you aren't getting flustered and making a wrong move. I can't even imagine trying to balance a boss when the actual way the boss works is super difficult but people complain about it being easy because they have markers enabled.
Personally, I like some of the plugins but I do think it would be better for the game if it was just straight up not allowed, official-client-as-shipped only mode.
What happened to the podcast? I miss it....
Ответитьi think theres also a flipped side to this whole discussion. As someone who just started to play osrs this year, I have only seen the game as fighting against the machine itself, and I love it. It feels unlike anything I've played before where exploits, glitches and taking advantage of the game design is how you're actually supposed to play. Every other game makes you work within the guidelines the game sets, but osrs encourages you to find ways to break the game. Like theres no way I'm playing this game w/o safespots. I had to kill a couple hundred black demons at lvl 30 magic (chunk locked acc) and theres no way I was doing that w/o safespots. In any other game, like destiny, where ppl are discouraged or have their worlds first raids removed for using "safespots" or cheesing bosses, its so cool to see a game embrace all the glitches/bugs and finding literally any way to gain an edge that aren't a part of the game.
ОтветитьYeaaah, playing on jagex official client is very different than these plugins, they may as well be cheating honestly with how much of an advantage they give.
Ответитьunfortunately, I think the tile plug in is unavoidable at this point. A lot of content in the game feels like it’s been designed around the fact that there is a rhythm, pattern, and consistent proper way to do each boss. Personally, I totally see your point, but I think that this takes RuneScape to its peak of what it was intended to be. RuneScape has in my opinion always been about maximizing your gains. So to see a moneymaking method require perfection and rhythm and experience feels like the logical conclusion of what scape endgame should be..
ОтветитьJagex is making bosses knowing that people will use plugins to help them. Blizzard creates raids knowing that addons will help them. Ask A Cold One how many times he has done Awakened with ground markers before that run. Jagex has created content relying on plugins to help their players. J1mmy not using plugins like tile and ground markers is the same as me refusing to go to iHop. There is no real reason, but i can make up a bunch of BS to justify it lol
ОтветитьBro is burned out of content, now he covering plug in.
ОтветитьI don’t like what tile markers have done to the game. But people won’t raid with you unless you use them.
ОтветитьWhile I can appreciate both approaches and see why clearing content in the most optimal way possible (ground tiles) is probably preferable to alot of people im always an advocate for playing a game in the intended way. That's why a speed run using glitches for example is not as impressive as a glitch less for me. Ofc it's interesting though BUT it's not the intended way
ОтветитьHonestly the bandos analogy really hit it home. When i was a kid i was IN runescape just wandering around enjoying the open world, now im abusing rs for max xp/hr and profits lmao
Ответитьthis is NOT McTile
ОтветитьJust started playing OSRS last week after seeing madseason give it a go. I'm an old wow player myself and like him I had never touched Runescape before.
Immediately turned off the quest helper plugins. Followed the F2P skill levelling guides for some combat levels, then I started questing.
Found the list of quests, but made sure not to 'cheat' by looking at their requirements though.
Felt like it has taken forever, but I can finally say that I've completed all F2P quests except Dragonslayer I and Shield of Arrav. Need to recruit my friend to do the latter. Not worried about that. But I'm so fucking worried about Dragonslayer I. I've read the name of that quest so many times now, but I have no idea about what is in store for me. I don't know if I have what it takes. I'm at combat level 40 something, so I'll probably get to the 45 recommended before starting. Hopefully I will be able to put on my rune gear by then.
When (if) I complete the quest, I'm probably going to get membership at some point. But I have exams coming up and have already gotten the "you've been playing for a while consider taking a break from your screen" message twice. We'll see.
As far I am a concerned, marking tiles on the ground using a modified game client is cheating. It might be permitted by the developers, but it is cheating.
