I drove a VW Bug as my first car as many have I would guess. I would have loved to have a Panhard instead. They missed the boat by not pushing these in the states, it would have sold tremendously well with the right marketing
ОтветитьPanhard cars was the first car manufacturer in the world in 1890 before Benz and Ford
ОтветитьThe first time I saw one was in San Sebastian, Spain. It was definitely love at first sight❤.
ОтветитьHey Jay, the "d" is silent!!!!!!!
ОтветитьOh lord I do remember “ a Quinn Martin production” !!! Lol
What a blast from the past! Cool car too Jay.
Wonderful design.
France has a really interesting automotive history
ОтветитьTimeless design! Thx for sharing Mr. Leno.
ОтветитьWhy can’t Detroit make cars this beautiful?
ОтветитьReminds me of a Citroen
ОтветитьAfter 1965 the Tigre models got front disc brakes so this must be earlier than that.
ОтветитьJay… Hi.!!!
You didn’t show much of the interior.
Lately, I have noticed that you have done this several times before.
Please…!!! Jay give us a minute or so of the interior.
Thank You..!!!
I love this car…..!!! It’s just stunning..!
And I love the color and you bothered to put in a leather interior.
Again…! Thanks Jay……
God Bless…..!!!!
brilliant
ОтветитьBeautiful
ОтветитьIn South Africa we had the Eland armoured car based on the Panhard AML...circa 1960
ОтветитьMy uncle told me the weird location of some controls of French cars was an economical thing. If the switch/knob is close to what it controls, less wire or cable is required. Don’t know if this is true.
ОтветитьHey Crimson Chin. Was this car imported from France into the United States??
ОтветитьHeadlights look like inspiration for the Porsche Taycan lights
ОтветитьPanhard Cars were quite popular and respected in Switzerland. The 24BT was amazing, fast, attractive, but compared to other brands (like VW), it was quite expensive in our country. This was the main reason, why it was not more successful. Thank you so much Mr Leno for your videos 👍 best regards from Switzerland
ОтветитьGreat looking car !
ОтветитьI prefer these over the big fancy cars. Oddballs like these have character and engineering finesse that the others just dont.
ОтветитьVery cool!
ОтветитьThanks, Jay. I love these videos on the lesser-known vehicles. Much more interesting than another video about a supercar.
ОтветитьFunny story, in the 70s I came across one of these for sale in all places, Hastings, Nebraska. I was intrigued because I had never seen one before. I asked the owner many questions and he told me that the Panhards were raced in Lemans by none other than Briggs Cunningham. Before I considered the purchase further, I found that Briggs had an auto museum somewhere in California. I found the phone number and called the museum. To my surprise, Briggs answered the phone. I asked him about the Panhard and we had a lengthy discussion of his years of racing and yes he did race the Panhards. What a great memory to have actually talked to the Man. I decided a new VW beetle was a wiser decision.
ОтветитьJay, you need to work on your under car camera work.
Thanks for presenting the Panhard. We had one.. on the wallpaper that lead to the basement in the house I grew up in. I don't know where the parents found that wallpaper (or did it come with the house)?
'Viva Le France'! 🎉😊
ОтветитьSounds a bit loud and raspy...
ОтветитьThere's one in WV- I've worked on it and driven it. I love it.
ОтветитьNoisy little bucket of bolts.
ОтветитьThis car reminds me between a Corvair & a Citroen I thinks it s a cute car & looks fun to drive too.
ОтветитьPorsche taycan got the same front
Ответитьcool motor
ОтветитьIt reminds me of the Cotroen DS
ОтветитьNice looking car. Unusual to see a BT with drum (Alfin) brakes, they'd pretty much all gone to discs by that time.
ОтветитьThe beauty of this car is timeless to me.
ОтветитьYou should have shown how the windshield wipers work, very unexpected!
ОтветитьJay , you Jave made The Car Game More enjoyable..God Bless.😊
ОтветитьThe car looks like a mix of Ro 80 and DS 21!
ОтветитьJay. Your. The. Limit.
ОтветитьThese and all sorts of decaying "end of life bangers" of all nationalities were still on the road in the UK in the sixties. There was a heavy sprinkling of motors from the thirties...all very interesting for an 18YO newbie driver.
ОтветитьThe car's handling enabled it to reach top speed with a sufficient level of safety. In 1967, when I was 7, one of the teachers at my school had a red Panhard 24. I can assure you that it made quite an impression on the kids at school. This car was considered an economical sports model, with excellent roadholding, economy and comfort.
ОтветитьBath on wheels.
ОтветитьThis car could pass as a car made in the 90s' just with different wheels and bumpers
ОтветитьHello Jay and crew. As far as I know, Don Racine of Mini Mania fame, owns and races the Aardvark Panhard. I've raced with him in CSRG's group 1 with my Triumph TR3A. I followed him in the Aardvark at Sonoma Raceway a number of years ago, during my second season of racing and I was sure the front wheels were going to come off. He drove so hard, the intense wobble of the front wheels as he hit the turn apex, kept me wondering. Thanks for sharing your Panhard with us. Cheers, Dave H.
ОтветитьJ'adore, son travail il le fait bien
ОтветитьC'est le Big bloc a la Française 😄
ОтветитьIt's a sickness? Like Citroen???
ОтветитьI prefer these little odd cars over the exotics Jay. Thank you ever so much for saving and posting them!
ОтветитьI'm french and I ignored Panhards until recently. Panhards are kind of Citroens with nice designs 😆
Your cars are very nice, and in an exceptional condition too. Thank you for the video.
A little beauty! Thanks for the great video.
ОтветитьThis model range was named the 24 because of Panhard's repeated win of the index of Thermal Efficiency at Le Mans.
Citroën who were the major stockholder were the ones who blocked the four door as the previous one had out sold the Ami.
